Chapter 7 - You Call This a Poor Guy

"LaFerrari is really cool!"

"Yeah, sports cars are always cool, but the closer you look, the more impressive it gets!"

"Do we have someone in our community who can afford a LaFerrari?"

However, when Olivia's mother brought her sister and brother-in-law to the entrance of the community, they didn't see Michael but noticed a LaFerrari parked nearby, surrounded by quite a few people.

Among them, a mother holding a child, about five or six years old, with the little one clenching their small fists, "Mom, when I grow up, I'll buy you this car!"

The mother was deeply moved and nodded repeatedly, "Sure, sweetheart, buy it for Mom when you grow up!"

"Marian, do you have someone in your community who owns a Ferrari?"

Seeing the LaFerrari, Olivia's uncle also stopped in his tracks, his eyes filled with envy.

No man can resist the allure of a sports car. Although he was already in middle age with both elderly and young family members, the desire to own a sports car couldn't be suppressed when he saw one parked by the roadside.

"Sister's husband, I've told you before that our community has a nice environment."

Although Olivia's mother wasn't sure about the exact value of the LaFerrari in front of her, hearing Olivia's uncle speak so highly of it made her proud.

In Marian's family had three sisters in total. Her eldest sister's husband was a dealer, her second sister's husband held a managerial position in a big company, and she, the only one, married a teacher.

Though their lives were not too shabby, both her elder sisters had bought new houses in Nexington, while she was still living in the old community, which always made her feel uneasy.

That's why she insisted that Olivia find a wealthy partner. After all, their family consisted of only her and her elderly mother, and despite the house being in Nexington and valued at a few million, it was just that one property!

Selling the house was out of the question, so she could only rely on Olivia to find a wealthy husband and change to a new house.

"Well, despite the slightly inferior infrastructure in these old communities, there are many advantages. At least, there's no one renovating constantly. In the new house we bought, there's constant renovation noise from the upstairs starting precisely at 8 am every morning. You can't even sleep in on weekends..."

The group chatted about various things, unaware that the door of the LaFerrari had opened, and Michael was descending with some items.

When Olivia's mother noticed Michael, he had already walked up to her. "Mom, I've come to see you."

"Is this... your car?"

While Olivia's mother and aunts were chatting away, they hadn't noticed how Michael arrived.

But Olivia's uncle had been focused on the LaFerrari, so he clearly saw Michael coming down from it.

Initially, he had been admiring the handsome and wealthy appearance of the new generation rich kids. Little did he expect that the young man would come over and address Olivia's mother as "Mom."

Could this be the so-called poor son-in-law Olivia's mother had mentioned?

"Yes, it's mine."

Although Michael hadn't seen Olivia's uncle before, seeing him standing with Olivia's mother, he guessed that he was some relative of Olivia's. So, he smiled and replied.

As soon as Michael admitted it, the four of them almost simultaneously cast their skeptical gazes on Olivia's mother's face!

Their meaning was clear: How can you call the son-in-law who owns a LaFerrari a poor guy?

"You have the nerve to come here?"

Olivia's mother was a bit stunned, but she was still angry, so she habitually sneered at Michael.

This move left the four people beside her utterly shocked!

The young man was tall, handsome, driving a car worth tens of millions, obviously from a well-off family. What's with this attitude?

Olivia's uncle reacted quickly, pulling Olivia's mother aside. "Marian, did your brain get kicked by a donkey? Look at the young man's car, it's a LaFerrari, worth over twenty million! Are you sure he's from an ordinary family?"

"Really? Over twenty million for this car?"

Olivia's mother looked at Olivia's uncle with suspicion. "You're not trying to trick me, are you?"

Olivia's uncle slapped his thigh, anxious. "Why would I trick you? Besides, if you don't believe it, take a photo of the car and Google it. If it's worth less than twenty million, I'll come to apologize to you in person!"

"It's impossible. Olivia said he's from an ordinary family. How can they be so rich..."

"Put away your sour face and find out the truth first!"

Olivia's uncle made a decision and didn't let Olivia's mother speak. He walked over to Michael to negotiate.

Being a businessman, he wore a smile on his face, warmly introducing everyone to Michael.

Michael, who liked Olivia so much, couldn't possibly put on airs in front of her family. So, he warmly greeted everyone.

"Do you smoke?"

Taking out a cigarette, Olivia's uncle asked.

Michael naturally accepted, "Yes."

After saying that, he took out a lighter and lit the cigarette for Olivia's uncle.

Men, when they smoke, find it easier to talk about many things.

Seeing Olivia's mother looking anxious, Olivia's uncle carefully asked, "I heard from Olivia's mom that you and Olivia secretly got married?"

"Yes, Olivia and I have been together for four years. We thought it was about time to get the certificate."

"I see you're polite and behave appropriately. You're a cultured person. Originally, I shouldn't be saying this, but Olivia's dad is a bit irresponsible. So, as Olivia's uncle, I have to say, what you two did wasn't right. How can you get married without telling both sets of parents?"

Olivia's uncle spoke to Michael in a neither harsh nor gentle tone.

Michael didn't evade, "You're right, Uncle. We're too young, and we acted recklessly. In the future, I'll need your guidance."

During the time they smoked at the community entrance, the two chatted for a while.

Olivia's uncle genuinely felt that Michael was a rare good boy. If his daughter hadn't been married, he would have wanted to snatch Michael over as his son-in-law.

After all, Michael not only looked handsome, displayed excellent manners, and exuded refined upbringing, but he also had money. He was a top-tier son-in-law that was hard to come by!

"Don't stand here, come to our house."

Olivia's uncle took the initiative to extend an invitation, and everyone had the same idea, so Olivia's mother had no choice but to agree.

"Sure."

Michael smiled and, not forgetting, took out several boxes of bird's nest and wine from the car.

First, he placed the gifts for Olivia's parents on the side and then handed the bird's nest and ROMANÉE-CONTI separately to Olivia's uncle, aunt, and second uncle, and second aunt. "I didn't know you were coming today, so I didn't prepare any gifts. Consider these as a small token of my appreciation."
