Chereads / THE TRAITOR MATE / Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

HOW DID YOU DO THAT

Shot with silver bullets, the already weak werewolves were down on the ground the smell of metal filled the room. Benzi raised his head to face the cell direction.

Everything was done, it was over. Their families were saved but how did she do it? Slowly he tried to drag his way into the dungeon but he couldn't. He lost his balance and eventually lost consciousness on the ground.

Barbra looked at the chaotic scene but she had no time left to do anything. She had to go back home earlier before her husband suspected any unusual thing going on.

She took the gun pointed it at her arm and shot at it like it didn't exist in her body. With the small dagger, she forced injuries on herself and entered her vehicle quickly driving back home.

"Gael you fool, I didn't know you were such a good-for-nothing loser." She cursed groaning in pain. She had to clean the wounds before they got infected.

Gael who was finally in relief looked at Elena and smiled lovingly at her. It had always been his dream to keep her beside her. "I have to see my Pack." He said hugging her so tight.

"Remember our sleepover plan for tomorrow." He whispered into her ears and walked out of the Pack. He drove through the bright City and after a few hours of driving, The Light Pack came into view.

He reached out from his pocket, took out a bunch of spare keys, and opened the huge gate. He tensed and his muscles became stiff at the sight before him.

Everything seemed to have crumbled, his world seemed to have been shattered by the consequences of his actions. He ran towards the lifeless bodies scattered all over the entrance.

He tensed running inside anticipating more lifeless bodies but to his surprise, nothing came into view. One thing was clear, Benzi and the rest had risked their lives for the safety of other Pack members.

Wasting no time, he took the large Key from Benzi's pants and unlocked the door to the secret chambers which was a pathway to the underground hiding spot whenever matters were out of hand.

To his surprise, he could see all the Pack females and cabs but they were all dead asleep. No matter how hard he tried to wake them up, no one moved or winked. Like statues, they even seemed glued to one spot.

Gael's heart slowly began to shatter as guilt took over his mind. Because he loved a woman, he abandoned his pack. Because he wanted to protect the Blue Shells Pack, he walked away from his pack and now he lost everyone.

Gael let out a loud, thunderous growl to ease his frustration, and something crossed his mind. The prisoner, if she survived then she would be the one to pay for every life that has been lost.

Gael's face darkened but as he turned, he heard some movements behind him. Quickly, he turned to see the awakened werewolves looking confused as they slowly stood up.

"Alpha," Benzi's mate called giving Gael a respectful bow but in her heart, only disgust for him was left. How could he abandon the Pack when it needed him the most?

She walked past him and walked out immediately. 'Benzi, are you safe sweetheart?' She asked through the mind link.

'I am mate.' She smiled even though she knew he was weak and probably hurt. His response was not what she was used to. They all walked to the spot where Benzi and his colleagues were, Benzi the Beta, and Raul the Gamma, he was the strongest werewolf in the pack when it came to fighting.

His hunting skills and fighting skills were second after Gael but of course, he was in charge of training the cabs into good and strong Warriors to protect the Pack at all times.

Raul was struggling to stand covering his wounds with his hand as he looked at Gael in disappointment. None of this would have happened if he was around. They needed an Alpha's protection, the courage he was born with that would have encouraged them to also fight until the end.

He was scared back then, he knew at times such as those, he was the weakest and Benzi was way better than him. What would have happened to them if that loud scary growl hadn't popped out?

Could they have died just like that? "Take them to the hospital, now." Gael snapped lifting Benzi who had two bullets given the two entries. "Do not give up okay? You can do this Benzi." His lips were shaking as he said the words.

'How am I still alive? Since when did werewolves survive after a silver bullet shot?' He asked Gael via the mind link.

'I'll search it up in the ancient books, I think there are some parts I still haven't read yet.' He replied.

After successfully placing Benzi on the beds set aside for patients in the pack, he instructed the Pack doctor Aline to handle them with a lot of care and called for neighboring packs to send their doctors to his Pack.

After a keen inspection, he walked straight into the cell where Tiara was sitting on the cold ground going through the books before her.

As if acquainted with the books, she was already done with three which meant she had the basic knowledge of werewolves and remained with only two to know everything about her kind and how they came into existence.

The two stared at one another one in shock and the other in fear.
