Chapter 20 - A Dream

"And for now I'll teleport you into my actual domain, so that all of you can truly experience it firsthand."

"Wha-"

"Wai-"

"Acho-"

[Their transportation was instantaneous; in just a blink of an eye, they found themselves...

...surrounded them were—Gigantic trees, some were even measuring to up to fifty meters tall, it felt as if they had stepped backed in time, at least for Kafka's perspective. It was similar to the Jurassic period on our earth, then as the fresh winds blew past them, they could hear the sounds of the wave crashing behind them-

Upon turning around, a majestic lake greeted them. The water were so clear and pristine, it was truly one of a kind—Most of them had never seen anything like this before.

Whoah! Whoah!

W-What?

"H-How the hell is this lake so huge?!"

"Don't question it, just admire it dude"

"BrooOOOH"

...

However all of their astonishment was cut short, when suddenly, they heard their instructor make an enigmatic noise, then onwards his eyes began to radiate a dark green hue, and even though they had tried to call for his name, he was completely stiff.

As much they had red and heard about this, it still felt creepy, because this was the first time they had seen an actual demonstration.

"It's coming isn't it?"

"Definitely Sarah"

"I wonder how it will look like?"

"Okay, it's happening... Everybody stay calm!"

"OH MY GOD!, it's happening! Everybody stay calm!

"EVERYBODY STAY CALM!!-

They were then greeted by slow but loud thuds, however they couldn't see where it was coming from, as dense forest in front of them covered it. Only when it was close enough they could see its silhouette.

THUD! THUD!!

THUD!! THUD!!!

A reflection of a four legged creature with a large hunch from its back could be seen from the direction of where the sound of the thumping was coming from...

THUD!! THUD!!!

...then an about thirty meter tall figure could be seen from up above the greenery, its neck peeking out from it's curved back-

"Shelly!" Maxwell ran and shouted with much enthusiasm to the creature. His expression that was caught by the lenses of the students, could only describe as that of a man seeing a long-lost brother for the first time in a long time.

Which was weird for such a man of his stature, but it was also understandable, so they all just grinned and snickered sneakily, while the others also just held their laughs.

Shelly was a thirty meter tall tortoise, with twin peach trees sprouting from his carapace. The vibrant color of the leaves, blossoming and cascading down with each graceful movement, symbolized the profound beauty of life and death.

"All of you, my dear students, meet my contracted beast, Shelly!" As he jumped on top of the creatures shell, and in return it made a wailing sound, but it was not out of pain or sadness, instead it was clear that instead it was a wail of happiness...

Kreeeek♪ Kreeeek♫♪

HAHAHAHA!

...Well by just seeing their instructor's completely different smile, they couldn't help but feel elated to the pure wholesomeness of the moment.

With a sense of pride, Professor Maxwell spoke in a confident demeanor–"Come on Shelly! Show them what you can do!"

The trees from Shelly's back grew flowers rapidly, pollinating, until it bore peaches almost the size of an entire arm, in which she let down gently for the students to feast on.

"Is this really for us?"

Kreaaak♪ Kreaaaak♪♪

"What a cute beast!"

"Then while all of you are eating, I'll continue doing my lecture, so just enjoy my dear students and simply ask Shelly for more if you're still hungry"

Meanwhile the first year students were in awe of what was happening, a professor had never treated them this kindly before. While the other professors were indeed not strict on them, which could be mistaken for kindness, but it was just all of them being indifferent.

However, what was even more surprising for them was the reactions of the second-year students, who were clearly a lot closer to him. They all thought that—'Maybe they had already bonded in the past?'—Somehow that thought made them feel a bit envious.

"Firstly I'll begin by discussing the attributes"

"Attributes are the elements that all of you can imbue to your morphed form once you had contracted with a beast. Shelly came from the lineage of Chaurli, so his element is that of nature, and naturally my morphed form of a normal tortoise can now be imbued with the element of nature, more specifically wood"

"Now it is important that you guys figure out the weakness of your inner beast, before their ancestors presents you with the choices, so that you may contract with a beast that compliments with you well, and yes there are exceptions to some inner beasts, but you have to at least be dragon level to have a naturally occurring attribute.

Now some of you may be thinking that why not just go for more explosive power?, as you can just summon your familiars anytime to make up for you shortcomings, while that also may be true, remember that we humans can at most only contract with a single beast, so make sure to think about it well.

And don't worry even if you're not able to figure it out on your own, in the remaining time before you turn eighteen, your instructor that will be teaching you about the subject of the beast realm, will be providing you with a guideline to know which elements fits the best for you."

...

And with that, not even them knowing how much time had past, their class was finally over-

"Its time for all of us to return back" Professor Maxwell declared.

Snap!

Again In just a blink of an eye all them was returned to their previous positions, not even an inch different from where they first stood, before getting transported to Maxwell's domain.

It was dusk when they had returned, so they didn't have much time but to part ways.]

"Goodbye class! be careful on your way to your dorms!"

"Goodbye sir!"

"Bye sir!"

"Bye Bye!"

Creeeeeek!

[Kafka was back at his usual place, his room, which was messy and full of garbage. It seemed like he had forgotten to take care of it, but he was too tired to even clean his damn room, so he just laid in bed trying to sleep it all away.]

The lesson that was just previously taught to him provoked a single thought—'Contracting a beast huh?'

"Hey System does the age limit of eighteen apply to me?"

...

[Oh...]

[I just removed it master.]

"You can do it, just like that?"

[Yes Master.]

"I see that's good to know"

Yaaaaawn!

...

[As Kafka closed his eyes, the darkness felt comfortable, he was beginning to go to sleep, however unbeknownst to him, he would not get even a single wince of rest for his brain, as he would soon dream of something.]
