Chapter 44 - Sol Vs Lukas {1}

'Lyra is a Prime shifter?' Sol was stunned as he thought of Lyra.

All this while he had assumed she was an animorph, and she said nothing about it, even though she got to know much about him. To build trust, Sol allowed her to roam the castle freely and learn everything she wanted about the Ark family, but it is a pity this was only one-sided.

Sol felt a stinging pain in his chest and a scorching feeling of anger began to surface. The reality of Lyra's betrayal brought about their few intimate moments that left him hoping for a future with her. The night she held him in her hands while he poured out his feelings replayed in his eyes, leaving Sol devastated.

For a moment, he actually thought that there was something real going on between them!

Lukas who was approaching noticed the confusion and mixed emotions plaguing Sol and assumed he was terrified.

"Don't bother about anyone coming to save you." He said. "No one will be able to know what happened here either since the Spectral Wisps are being restricted by an array set up around here,"

The more Lukas spoke, the worse Sol's confusion became. He knew nothing about Spectral wisps and what they do, neither did he have any knowledge of arrays.

He never knew setting up arrays was a thing in this world.

Sol shut his eyes and controlled his breathing as he analyzed the situation. He knew allowing his emotions to get the best of him here would only prove fatal and lead to his death.

This was not the time to feel, it was the time to think!

Sol thought deeply about the things he had been able to grasp about Lukas since their conversation started. Thinking back on the entire interaction, he couldn't pinpoint anything until he remembered the part where Lukas about the Prime shifters. It was only then that he spoke with immense pride that would make one think lowly about themselves.

His confidence in what he currently knows is so unwavering, that he would be unable to learn new things!

A wise man once said, be formless like the water. This means one must be ready to adapt to any situation, regardless of their past knowledge. Water takes the form of whatever container it is put in, showcasing the peak adaptability all men should look for.

With this in mind, Sol understood that Lukas' perception of the world was his greatest weakness. Such men are left shaken and defeated when their beliefs get overwhelmed by something new and more powerful.

Bam!

Sol's train of thought was shaken as Lukas, lunged forward and tried to make it past the narrow entrance of the room.

"Hak!" Sol growled as he threw both hands forward, releasing a powerful torrent of flames from his palms, and he easily filled the entrance with scorching flames.

Boom!

Lukas frowned deeply as his body flew backward, and his hands crossed around his face to shield it from the fire. As soon as he landed, he took a quick look at himself and he frowned. Even with the endowment of his werewolf ability, he still suffered mild burn injuries, coupled with the fact that most of his clothes were burnt as well.

Swoosh!

He quickly looked up only to see Sol charging his way. Gritting his teeth in rage, Lukas swung his claw at Sol, but this was expected, and he watched in shock as lowered his upper body, allowing his attack to brush past his hair.

Bam!

Lukas' face tightened as Sol delivered a liver shot with a fist engulfed in flames, causing Lukas's body to jerk to the side in response. His face turned pale, and he staggered back with a look of disbelief as he wondered how a simple punch could deal so much damage, however, Sol was not done.

While Lukas staggered, Sol followed tightly with his arms raised and his fists blocking his chin while his body swayed from side to side. Watching Sol move in a way he had never seen before left Lukas confused and unable to react to the uppercut, which sent his head jerking back abruptly.

Bam!

Following the uppercut was a powerful right hook which knocked Lukas to the floor. Sol had no intention of letting this opportunity slide as he charged forward with powerful flames surging from his hands as he closed in on his target.

Hak…

Puff!

Suddenly, green fumes began diffusing from Lukas' body, and Sol frowned and instinctively retreated by a few steps.

Ding!

[The foe is harnessing the basilisk's toxic capabilities to emit deadly gas from their body. The host must swiftly flee this enclosed area to avoid potential fatal poisoning.]

Seeing this, Sol's facial expression tightened, and he felt his throat go dry all of a sudden. His gaze shifted to the sack at the corner of the room, however, he was forced to return his gaze to Lukas, who was rising to his feet in the body of green mist. While Sol could barely make sense of his looks in the mist, he noticed the snake-like scales all over Lukas' body.

"You are not running?" He said with a look of disdain in his tone, however Sol wasn't moved by his words. "You are either brave or really stupid"

Instead, Sol began taking slow but steady strides forward while his eyes turned pitch black and black cracks began spreading from his eyelids to the rest of his face. At that moment, Sol's hair lost its color, becoming as white as snow, while his skin darkened.

"Hak…" Sol muttered in a voice overlapped by a deeper voice.

Black scales began appearing all over his body, and his nails grew into black claws. Watching Sol manifest the power of his demonic bloodline, even Lukas was slightly shaken. He watched in shock as a demonic presence diffused from Sol, and he instinctively took a step back.

"Why run when I can kill you here and end your childish dreams?" Sol's cold and deep voice resounded across the room
