"Apologies, Your Highness, but it's time to surrender," Zhang Fan declared as he positioned his sword at Léonmichelle's throat, ready to strike should she resist. His stern voice echoed the gravity of the moment.
"Ah, to think I would meet my defeat here," Léonmichelle mused, surprisingly nonchalant in her surrender, treating the battle more like a game. Zhang Fan felt a wave of anticlimax wash over him. Had he taken this too seriously?
"Incredible! Princess Léonmichelle admits defeat! With the fall of the grand commander, the score gap widens irrevocably, dashing any hopes of a Garrett Lion Brigade comeback. Let's celebrate Biscode's victory!"
Léonmichelle's capitulation marked the end of the war. The Garrett Lion Brigade's morale plummeted while Biscode's spirits soared, not just among the soldiers but also among the beast balls—the defeated warriors. It had been a hard-won victory for Biscode, often on the losing side of battles.
Though the war's victory hinged on territorial control, its conclusion was now evident. Fireworks erupted in the sky, signaling the end of this war game.
"You did well, Hero. I acknowledge your strength. But don't think I'll lose again. Next time, I'll be serious!" Léonmichelle proclaimed defiantly in front of the television crew, hinting at a rematch, her demeanor bold and unyielding.
"Anytime, Princess Léonmichelle," Zhang Fan responded with a slight smile, acknowledging her as one of his strongest adversaries yet.
"Princess Mishiore of Filiano, what are the plans for the post-war celebration?" the announcer inquired, turning to Princess Mishiore standing atop her castle.
"This celebration will feature a music and song festival at the Filiano Music Hall," Mishiore announced, her words punctuated by an excited interjection from a white-cloaked young girl at her side, clutching a song list. Despite her youthful appearance and orange fox ears, she was Biscode's leading research scientist—a prodigious inventor with a keen interest in mechanics.
The prospect of hearing the Princess's songs elicited cheers from the soldiers and civilians alike. Even those unable to attend the concert in person were content to watch the broadcast at home.
"I'm quite looking forward to it," Zhang Fan mused, pleased with the successful completion of his side mission.
"Of course, Princess Mishiore is a world-renowned superstar, a treasure of Biscode. You'll understand when you hear her sing," Eclair remarked, still harboring some resentment towards Zhang Fan for his earlier actions but unable to deny the triumph over Léonmichelle.
"Good work, Hero Zhang Fan and Captain Eclair. The media is clamoring for an interview with the Hero. Would you be willing to speak with them?" Roland, the Knight Commander, approached the pair with a beaming smile, his pride in the victory evident.
"An interview? I'd rather not," Zhang Fan declined, preferring to stay out of the limelight.
"Very well. Eclair, please show the Hero around Filiano City or arrange for some rest. Princess Mishiore is busy with concert rehearsals and can't entertain the Hero for now," Roland instructed before turning to Eclair.
"Follow me," Eclair said, leading Zhang Fan away, her demeanor mixed with reluctance and duty. She knew Zhang Fan was bound to this world and hoped he would find some enjoyment in Filiano City.
"What would you like to do in the city, Hero?" Eclair asked once they were inside.
"Let's just wander around. I'm quite curious about this world," Zhang Fan replied, intrigued by the blend of modern and traditional elements in the cityscape.
"In that case, I'll leave you here for a bit. I have some matters to attend to but will meet you back at this fountain in an hour," Eclair said, relieved that Zhang Fan seemed to appreciate the city despite her lingering annoyance with him.
"Take your time, Captain Eclair," Zhang Fan responded, offering a polite gesture as she departed.
Left to his own devices, Zhang Fan immersed himself in exploring the vibrant streets of Filiano City, fascinated by its unique charm and the curious glances he received as an apparent outsider.
