Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: Battle Against the Tyrant

Upon entering a room adjacent to the mansion's grand hall, I discovered a corpse sprawled on the ground, thankfully just an ordinary zombie and not one of my teammates.

As I ventured deeper, signs of prior exploration were evident – opened rooms, an increasing number of zombie and monster carcasses, including that of Forth, the weapon maintenance officer of Team A. What was he doing here? Had Team A been mobilized?

My mind swirled with questions. If Team A was indeed involved, then were Jill and Chiyoda also within the confines of this mansion? And what about Rebecca and the Captain?

Navigating the mansion felt like traversing a colossal labyrinth. Despite my hastened pace, it took considerable time to reach the mansion's backyard. But upon my arrival, the sound of gunfire from nearby indicated a battle. Without hesitation, I rushed towards the commotion.

To my dismay, the scene at the backyard helicopter landing pad was chaotic. Dominating the center stood a towering Tyrant, over three meters tall. But it wasn't alone – another lurked on the left side of the pad. Since when did Tyrants become so prolific?

Captain, Forth, Edward, Kennian, and Chalid all lay motionless around the pad, their fate unknown. Only Jill, Rebecca, Chiyoda, and Chris were still battling the two Tyrants. But where were the rest of Team A?

Without time to ponder, I acted swiftly to rescue my comrades. Targeting the Tyrant advancing towards Rebecca, who had run out of bullets and was desperately fending it off with a dagger, I fired my Magnum. The loud report drew everyone's attention, and the Tyrant, hit by the bullet, paused its assault on Rebecca, searching for the source of its pain.

"Zhang Fan!" Rebecca's eyes lit up with joy at the sight of her long-awaited savior arriving at this critical moment.

"Zhang Fan!" Jill and Chiyoda exclaimed in surprise and relief, aware of my valor from Rebecca's tales. Even Chris's expression lifted, grateful for the timely reinforcement.

"Rebecca, catch!" There was no time for pleasantries. Throwing my P5K to Rebecca, I continued firing at the Tyrant.

With my intervention, the tide of battle shifted. As I engaged one Tyrant, Rebecca and the others focused on the other, easing the pressure on everyone.

This Tyrant proved a formidable opponent. Even at my Junior Deity Servant level, my physical strength was no match for the Tyrant's. One punch from it could crater the ground, and a direct hit would be devastating.

As I reloaded, the Tyrant closed in, aiming a deadly punch at my head. Dodging while reloading, I drew the newly acquired Maple Chang Sword from my personal space. In a flash of white light, the sword severed the Tyrant's claw – an unexpectedly powerful weapon!

The Tyrant, now with a gaping chest wound and missing claw, roared in fury. Seizing the moment, I leapt up, striking its neck with my sword. The roar ceased abruptly as its head rolled off, the massive body collapsing after a momentary sway, kicking up dust.

Had I vanquished it? Jill and the others, still struggling with the remaining Tyrant, were stunned. Distracted, Chris was flung against a wall by the creature's claw. He spat blood, evidently suffering severe internal injuries.

My victory was short-lived. Rushing to aid the others, I quickly closed in on the second Tyrant. In close quarters, I pierced its brain with the Maple Chang Sword, a technique I had learned from Little Tong. With swift precision, I continued the onslaught, severing its claw with a single stroke.

Relentless, I pressed my attack. With the Tyrant reeling from the loss of its claw, I emptied my Magnum into its head. Six bullets later, it stood riddled with holes, a grotesque sieve.
