Leaving Nigeria and going to look for another country to play for wasn't impossible for the current him as he had options.
As he was, he could easily choose to play for the USA, or he could do something even crazier by accepting a honorary citizenship from places like Portugal if he requested it, though whether he would actually get it remained to be seen.
The point however was not whether he could or not, but that he was justified to do so after what he had experienced.
Sure the NFF wasn't directly involved in the driver's absurd decision of going to a club instead of coming to pick him up at the airport, but how did that concern him?
They were the ones who hired him in the first place and if they were careless enough to do something like that, then who knows what other nonsense could happen later.
