They were all confused. Was this Beric telling Cyrus to kill the blindfolded man with him? How could he tell him to give it his all while fighting with someone who had never once wielded a sword and does not possess aura?
"Your highness, do you really want me to go all out?" Cyrus asked and Beric glared. He disliked repeating himself.
"Just what I wanted to ask." Yeon Jin chipped in. "You're really trying everything, aren't you?" He said, referring to Beric trying everything to see if there was someone who could kill Yeon Jin.
"You won't die." Beric simply said.
"But I can still get hurt." Yeon Jin spelt the words and to which Beric responded nonchalantly,
"You'll heal."
"Bastard." Yeon Jin cussed and everyone's eyes widened in shock. Did they hear right?
"That wasn't my intention."
"And I'm supposed to believe that?"
"Believe whatever you can. I just want to know how long you can hold out when up against a skilled knight. You're going to be my guard, remember?"
Yeon Jin gritted his teeth. The reasoning was right but he couldn't help but feel Beric was trying to mess with him on purpose.
Everyone stared in disbelief. When they thought a head would roll, they actually saw their captain, a bloodthirsty tyrant, arguing with an unknown man who was dressed neatly like an aristocrat.
"Just hold out for as long as you can and if I see that you can't take it anymore, I'll stop the fight."
"How can I trust you?" Yeon Jin folded his arms, standing his ground against him and Beric frowned.
"What do you want?"
"I need some kind of word to say in case I figure out, on my own, that I can't take it anymore."
"Fine. What word do you choose?"
"Time out." Yeon Jin said and turned to Cyrus whose eyes were bleeding with disbelief and confusion. "Once I say 'Time out' you will stop no matter how close you are."
"You heard him." Beric said and Cyrus repeatedly nodded.
Yeon Jin picked up a sword he was confident he could carry. His eyes sighted a bow and an arrow and he subconsciously smiled. The days he wielded a bow and arrow like an eagle in the sky.
Cyrus was a bit nervous. He couldn't tell if this was a test or if he was being given the reins to kill someone but he was going to do as he was told and fight with all he had.
He just hoped that if he ended up killing the white haired guy, he wouldn't get executed for it. After all, he looked like an aristocrat.
"I'm ready." Yeon Jin announced.
One reason why he agreed to this suicide task was because he was curious about how this 'aura' looked like and how it worked. He wanted to see it in person.
He had seen Beric use some strange power to move things and shut the door. And though it didn't work on him, he knew, from the maids, that it was demon power. Aura was definitely different.
As they took their stance, the knights had their hearts in their throats. This white haired guy with a blindfold on, he looked too much like an aristocrat and they thought maybe he had a secret card up his sleeves. But that wasn't why they felt nervous.
He had talked back to the prince just now and even cussed at him without getting killed. It would seem that they had a special relationship.
If they were so close and Cyrus ended up killing him, they would definitely lose a strong knight to the hands of their captain.
"Begin." Beric said and immediately, Cyrus lunged at Yeon Jin.
His movement was so fast that Yeon Jin couldn't see a thing and like a wise guy he was, immediately called it quits.
"Time out." He yelled and Cyrus stopped, the edge of his blade stopping one inch away from Yeon Jin's face. "Okay, back away."
Cyrus gulped and took back his sword. He almost killed him. Yeon Jin gave out a sigh of relief.
"Why did you stop him?" Beric asked and Yeon Jin shot him a glare.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that I am blind."
"But you're not blind."
"Exactly. And that thing would've cut me in half if I was. I'm not blind but I still wasn't able to see his movements. He moved like the wind, dammit. How am I supposed to fight against something I can't even see?" He shook his head and dropped the sword on the ground. "I am not doing this." He said and suddenly started tying up his hair.
"What do you want to do now?" Beric asked him.
"What I'm good at." Yeon Jin answered. He walked towards the weapons and picked up the bow he had set his eyes on.
"What are you doing?"
"Feeding your hen. What does it look like I'm doing?" He spoke sarcastically and someone stifled a laugh. But he immediately hid himself for fear of dying.
Beric sighed. Why did he have to deal with this?
"What are you going to do with the bow and arrow?" Beric rephrased his words.
"You can only fight the wind with the wind." He answered vaguely and mounted the quiver, an item where the arrows were being held, around his waist. "You're fast, right?" He asked Cyrus who was slow to respond.
"Um, yes."
"Okay. Use your aura or whatever it's called, try to cut this down before it hits you." Yeon Jin said.
"What?"
Before he could comprehend what Yeon Jin was talking about, Yeon Jin had already drawn his arrow and aimed directly at him. He released the arrow and to their surprise, it moved at an incredible speed that Cyrus barely dodged it.
With wide eyes, they looked at Cyrus whose cheek bled with the light graze of the arrow and then looked over to Yeon Jin who was equally surprised. He knew he was good but he didn't know he was that good.
"Ah, and I didn't even go all out." He exclaimed.
