I made my way back to my room after Vincent's assurances. To say I was relieved would be an understatement, I was comforted. I never knew words had the power to hold and assure me as much as Vincent's words did. It was a balm to my wounded heart, a moment of respite in the turbulent storm of my emotions.
I had left him back at his office to continue his business especially since he had mentioned some duty that required his immediate attention, and with a sense of urgency, he had disappeared into the darkness beyond. As the door closed behind me, a strange unease settled over me, amplifying the mysterious aura of this humongous castle.
I turned my attention to the room, dimly lit by the flickering candle on the small wooden table. The air was thick with tension, a stark contrast to the camaraderie Vincent and I had shared earlier.
