Elena's P.O.V
The crisp morning air clung to the stone walls of the courtyard as I diligently practiced my swordplay. This was one of the things that Vincent had allowed me to do, I guess it was one of the perks of sleeping with the king. I shut off that thought as soon as it came because the last thing I wanted was to be immersed in it.
But I had been surprised when Chloe had told me that I was allowed to keep practicing my skills. Apparently, Vincent didn't want me to get 'rusty' since I was a hunter and hunters need constant practice.
The training ground beyond the courtyard seemed to be filled with anticipation and buzz early in the morning, and as Chloe sat in the corner, immersed in a book, I couldn't help but notice how some of the people in the field kept on looking at me from time to time, as if they expected me to start swinging my blade in their direction any minute now.
