Listening to Bonga made me realize just how naive I had been in dealing with Khalinda, she was someone who had invested half her life in Walter, this was a woman who betrayed her own sister for this man, I was nothing compared to that. It also made me realize that she was not going to give up easily, whether I was still with Walter or not, I embarrassed her in the worst way possible and Walter did nothing about it.
I sighed heavily at the mess my life was about to become, "So, in short, you stalked me around...and not only that, but you were working with a woman who had zero good intentions about me?",
Bonga with guilt in his voice, "Thandie, back then I didn't know her history with Walter, she told me she was just a fan and wanted the best for you because he was a playboy, I seriously didn't know the-"
"Fine, fine, but today, you knew Walter would be here...didn't you?", I asked calmly, I had cooled off, and the anger I felt before, had dissipated, but that was until I saw the disturbed look on Bonga's face, "Uhm....Thandie..."
My mood suddenly darkened at the realization that Bonga was still scheming with Khalinda, but I still tried to keep my composure, "Bonga....how did you know Walter was here?".
In my efforts to keep a calm demeanor, I had not even realized that I had started smiling, scared of my expression, his calm facade began crumbling, "I...I...Thandie I am so sorry. I received a text from Khalinda telling me he would be bringing a date to Central Mall. I was angry because I didn't get why he would bring her to Silverton. I only brought you here to see the kind of person he is and show you that he didn't deserve your tears...I am being hones-"
I was now staring directly at him, "So let me get the straight, since you know everything I have been through and that I was hurting, instead of taking me far from him, you brought me to where he was?"
"I am so so sorry, I was just angry and I-"
"Please get out of my car, I need to be alone.", I pleaded politely then turned away from him
"Thandie, please-"
"Get out!", I snapped causing him to open the door in a pitiful state
"Wait..", I said stopping him in his tracks, I suddenly remembered the number 8 item on his list, and that mystery had not been solved, "How did you know that I was crying alone in a hotel, Khalinda couldn't possibly have known about that..."
Bonga began searching his pockets vigorously as if the answers were hidden somewhere in his body, "I received a text from her telling me that she is with Walter and you are alone at the hotel, balling your eyes out, but unfortunately by then, I had already returned to Silverton.",
"Are you saying Walter and Khalinda spent a night together?", I asked in shock at the new revelation
He finally stopped at his jacket's inside pocket and took out his phone, "Yes, she sent me pictures.", he handed me the phone to a screen of Khalinda with Walter in bed, "Here, I deleted most of them, I just left a few for a moment like thi-", I noticed that the pictures looked similar to the ones Khalinda showed me when she was telling me about Rachel, but what got to me was that Bonga kept these pictures in anticipation of something like this.
Disappointed and annoyed at his never-ending schemes, I gave him his phone back, "Bonga, please leave, is like whatever the outcome was, you had plans in place to hurt one way or another...".
The moment Bonga disappeared from my sight, tears dropped, 'this was not the Bonga I remembered from high school or the Bonga from the previous night'. I lowered the car seat to comfortably lie back and recollect myself, the last thing I needed was to worry my mother even more, so I was planning on staying in the car until I was back to myself. I also needed a plan to resolve everything related to Khalinda and Walter when I went back to Amberspruit, once and for all. I sighed heavily and closed my eyes, it seemed I had dosed off because I opened my eyes to a setting sun. The beautiful thing about the Central Mall was that it was built on a hill, giving its shoppers the perfect view of the cozy yet elegant small town of Silverton and all its corners. I watched the sun as it gracefully danced between two mountain ridges as if it was deliberately placed there by the Maker to give the sky its red-orange light, I was in awe of its beauty, and the sense of calm I got from the view in front of me, "Wow", I silently whispered as my eyes sparkled.
"Beautiful isn't it? I was worried you were going to miss it...", a voice casually spoke startling me, "Jesus! Walter, what are you doing here?!"
I was so taken by the sight in front of me that I didn't even look around the car, I didn't even notice the foreign jacket that was keeping me warm.
"Why are you in my car?"
"Because you didn't lock the doors.", he smirked
