I descended two more floors after that, thankfully without incident.
For some reason, the silence was making me uneasy instead.
I doubt they would just give up after sending those guys after me so I'm expecting a trap of some sort at the least.
I even made sure to check each floor's corridor and lift lobby just in case there was someone waiting to attack me from behind.
But it was quiet… Too quiet.
I pulled back on the cocking handle to check that the gun was properly loaded before descending the next flight of stairs.
Right now I was on the sixteenth floor and there was still no one around.
Did they already send everyone in this building after me?
Fuck…. Maybe they called for reinforcements and the longer I stay here, the more enemies I would need to deal with…
