Izaak's eyes narrowed as he read the message aloud. "Who sent this?" he demanded, looking at the guard, who shook his head, bewildered.
"It suddenly appeared through an arrow, Your Highness. We checked, but no one was around," the guard explained, his voice trembling slightly with fear.
Alaric took the note from Izaak, his brow furrowing as he read it. "I think it's the vampire Alora told us about. We need to go to her house and check," he suggested.
Izaak nodded as his expression turned grave. "He wants Alora to be there," he pointed out, his eyes meeting Alaric's.
"But we don't know about the vampire and–"
"Our brother's life is at risk, Alaric," Izaak interrupted, not letting him say what he wanted to. "Stay here. I'll bring Alora," he asserted, already turning on his heel to leave.
