Magnus opened the blindfold from Alora's eyes and saw they were damp. She kept her gaze down and felt his thumbs on her eyes.
"Open them," he urged her, "for me."
Alora promptly did that and peered into his eyes. "I should not cry today. But I-I am un-unable to hold them." The tears rolled over her cheeks as she began weeping. Venus's words hurt her like someone stabbed her heart. The pain she could still experience.
Magnus wiped the tears from her eyes. "She will be punished soon. I won't hear a single word on this from you," he stated. He was fuming in anger to see Alora cry. All she wanted Venus to know was something, which could change her life forever.
"No. Don't do that," Alora said and once again she lowered her eyes. She sniffled and rested her head on his chest. Her arms wrapped around him. "I should have listened to His Highness," she murmured.
