Shen Liangnian looked at Jing Haohao, who was sparing with her words. He stood for a while before asking, "When did you come back?"
"Been back for a while," Jing Haohao replied ambiguously, a far cry from before. In the past, Jing Haohao would recount in detail what she had eaten when asked by Shen Liangnian. She would tell him how much porridge she drank, how many dough sticks she ate, and how many fried eggs she had.
Perhaps Jing Haohao's aloof attitude left Shen Liangnian at a loss as to how to continue.
A silence lingered between them.
Jing Haohao remembered how, upon discovering Shen Liangnian's two-year betrayal, every bit of her brimmed with teeth-gritting hatred towards him. But now, she discovered, all those feelings had quietly disappeared. Even the love she once thought would stand the test of time had inexplicably vanished.
Jing Haohao stared at Shen Liangnian, reigned in her expression, and said, "If you'll excuse me, I'll be going."
