Their eyes met; surprise was unmistakable in Liang Chen's gaze. Jing Haohao, however, felt somewhat embarrassed by this surprise. She said softly, "Dinner's ready, come in and eat."
Having spoken, she hastily turned around and went directly into the dining room.
Liang Chen washed his hands and by the time he entered the dining room, the servant had already served the meal.
The two didn't converse much during the meal, and as soon as they finished, Nanny Lin ordered dessert to be served.
Even though Jing Haohao had learned to make these desserts, this was her first attempt. Visually, they looked appealing, but when she tasted it herself, she found it to be an uncomfortably sweet taste. Embarrassed, she put her spoon down and said, "I think I messed up."
