She slowly nodded and replied, "Yes."

"Why?" He further asked.

"Because we fought."

"What was the fight about?"

"It was because I told him how much I hated Talia. He yelled at me, and I found it offensive, so I disrespected him, and he slapped me for the first time. I couldn't take it and ran to my friend's house down the street."

"What do you mean when you say you 'disrespected him'?"

"I– I said…" she trailed off and burst into tears. The detective was calm. He handed her a handkerchief and waited until she was doing much better before asking,

"We'll come back to this when you're willing to speak. But for now, tell me, who is Talia?"

"Talia Clinton, the model; she's my brother's girlfriend."

"Oh," the detective smiled faintly, "The celebrity. Why do you hate her?"

"I hate her because she doesn't like my brother; she was only using him."

"How do you know that?"
