"Who was that?" Alex asked, coming up behind his wife.
"A cop." She answered absent-mindedly.
"A cop?" He asked, trailing kisses on her neck as he turned her to face him.
"Did someone get into trouble?" He asked again, planting a kiss on her lips, causing her to giggle naughtily at him
"Only if she's guilty as charged."
They arrived at the house an hour later.
"What's wrong with him?"
"I don't really know." Nelly stood. "My uncle raised a few dogs back at his ranch, from that I believed I knew a thing or two about the animals."
"He won't eat?" Alex asked.
"He wouldn't even sniff it." Nelly replied, waving the dog biscuit for all to see. "If I knew any better I'd say It's almost like it hates them."
"Give him a name," Beatrice suggested. "That should make it easier right?" She was lying on the couch, her head resting on her husband's lap, and her eyes glued to the Tv screen.
"Come on, eat Bingo!" Edward called out.
"Bingo?" Beatrice fired him an accusing look. "Seriously?"
"It's what they call dogs on the commercials." Edward explained.
"Have some class Eddy." Nelly put in.
"I totally agree with her." Alex added.
"Whatever." He raised his hands in surrender.
"He has a name."
They turned towards the direction of the voice, to see Anna standing as humble as ever on the passage way.
"His name is Max, and he doesn't eat biscuits, cookies, food stored in cans or dished on a plate. He has his special way of feeding." She ended slowly but daintily.
On hearing his name, the German shepherd barked and made its way into the kitchen.
"Well he better learns to adapt, or we're kicking him out." Alex declared.
"Anna," Nelly called, walking stealthily towards her. "How do you know all that?" She asked, squatting at the doorway, right in front of the girl.
"She plays with him all the time, why wouldn't she know?"
"Shut up Ed!" Nelly snapped, trying to keep her cool as she faced the girl again.
"Please tell me Anna, how do you know all you just said?"
The little girl raised her head in a confused manner.
"He told me."
