Chapter 3 - An Uninvited Guest

Kilometers away, close to London, that huge and civilized city, a man and his wife were living on a small and simple farm together.

The couple who loved each other shared their valuable love and they gifted each other with kindness.

The old door's screech sound could be heard at any time and made them come out and check the surroundings.

A green and vast plain covered one side of the farm and on the other side, long and soaring trees were located in the jungle that could be seen from kilometers away.

The sky's bright moon was in a clash with stars over beauty. The moon became more and more beautiful and was making stars embarrassed.

Mr. and Mrs. Morrison were living on that small but soulful farm.

Mr. Morrison was a black man and was originally from Nigeria. He had a fit body with a slightly small beards that made him special.

At first glance, he looked like a noble and capitalist but it wasn't anything like that. Mr. Morrison had just started working at the central post office in London and had received his first salary a month ago.

Mrs. Morrison was a little different from his husband. The combination of her cute curly hair with brunette skin had given her a stunning beauty.

Their grandfathers had migrated from England to Nigeria sixty-three years ago and the close friendship of their ancestors with each other had created a close relationship between their families.

Their family were always in contact with each other and were like one family. This friendship got stronger with the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Morrison.

That night was the third wedding anniversary of this couple and due to that, Mrs. Morrison did her best.

She designed the small dining table that was in the kitchen like a beautiful bride. All kinds of drinks and foods were placed on the table.

A big roasted chicken that was Mr. Morrison's favorite food, a big bowl of grilled fish, and all kinds of drinks were in the middle.

Colored jellies around the table, made it beautiful like a rainbow.

There were two candles beside the roasted chicken that showed the romantic love between these two lovers.

On August 23rd, Mrs. Morrison was longing for her husband in the living room and was very enthusiastic to know what kind of gift he had bought her.

Was it possible to be a golden ring? Or maybe a beautiful dress?! No one knows.

Expectations ended by hearing Mr. Morrison's car approaching. He got out of his white and second-hand car.

The wife quickly opened the door and looked at her man. The husband opened the door of the back seat of the car to take something out.

The wife's heart was beating intensely.

"He's going to take the gift out at any moment, what kind of a big gift is it to have him put it in the back?!!" said Mrs. Morrison to herself.

Mr. Morrison unbelievably took out only his brown leather bag that was for the job.

That's it?! It wasn't what Mrs. Morrison was expecting. Where is the gift?! Don't tell me he has forgotten an important day like this?! Maybe the gift is small enough to fit in his bag?! At that moment Mrs. Morrison looked at him dumbfounded until something came to her mind. If he has forgotten this day, he will be ashamed after seeing these delicious foods.

It shouldn't have happened. That woman loved his husband.

Mr. Morrison came closer and when he stood in front of his wife, kissed her and said:

"Were you waiting for me? What's wrong?"

"N…No, everything is fine,"

Mr. Morrison smiled and wanted to enter the house but his wife stood in his way.

"Linda, what are you doing honey? Let me go inside, I'm tired," said Mr. Morrison.

"No, you can't go yet."

Mr. Morrison looked at her with his soft and everlasting smile. But she couldn't make eye contact with him. Mr. Morrison started talking with a humorous tone:

"As long as I remember this is my house. When I die, it will be yours,"

Mr. Morrison looked at his wife after saying this sentence. It was like he was waiting for something. At times like this Mrs. Morrison would go crazy and complain funnily. That's what Mr. Morrison was waiting for.

But this time, no sign of her humorous discussions could be seen. While she was wrapping her hair around her finger, pointed at the small table in the corner of the terrace:

"We will eat dinner there tonight, I've missed that. As you are cleaning the table, I'll bring the food,"

"B…But…"

"Shush!! I don't want to hear anything. I'm the boss tonight so be a good subordinate and clean the table,"

Mrs. Morrison said that and went to the house and closed the door. "Clank!" she heard it as she was taking food out of the table.

Mr. Morrison opened the door with the key which he always had. Mrs. Morrison was so stressed that had completely forgotten this fact.

He entered and closed the door to prevent the cold air from coming inside. He saw through the kitchen and all of the food on the table.

"These… what are these?! All these foods?! What occasion is this?!" asked he in surprise.

Mrs. Morrison got upset due to her husband forgetting their wedding ceremony and answered unwillingly:

"Today is our wedding ceremony. You had forgotten it and I didn't want you to become upset so I wanted to clean the table so you wouldn't see them,"

Mr. Morrison hit his forehead hard with his palm:

"Ah...I'm so sorry Linda. I've completely forgotten it,"

"It's okay, it is what it is,"

"We'll go to the city tomorrow and I'll buy you a big and beautiful gift, what about it?" said Mr. Morrison.

Mrs. Morrison got more upset. What the hell is buying a gift after the wedding ceremony?! when do men learn these things?!

"Not needed. I don't want it anymore," said she calmly.

"You sure?!" asked Mr. Morrison

with a smile.

Then he took a beautiful pink box out of the inside pocket of his coat and said:

"If you don't want a gift, I have to return it. It's not needed anymore,"

Her cheeks flushed. Her husband had not forgotten their wedding ceremony.

"Is it mine?!" asked she excitedly.

"Of course, I wouldn't buy a golden necklace for anyone except my wife,"

Mrs. Morrison had turned red like a tomato.

"I buy others car and ring," said Mr. Morrison immediately.

Her red face wiped out as quickly as it appeared. Mr. Morrison who had succeeded at pulling her leg was out of breath from laughing so hard. While anger shone like sunshine from her face Mrs. Morrison said:

"I'm gonna kill you Jefrrryyyyy!!!!"

Mr. Morrison was laughing and couldn't breathe properly: "I was… I was joking". Now they laughed together. After a few seconds of happiness, silence prevailed in the atmosphere.

Mrs. Morrison came close. Mr. Morrison also followed her and they reached together at the entrance of the kitchen. It was interesting that even after three years of being married, she would get embarrassed to stare at her husband's eyes for too long.

He took the necklace out of the box and put it on her neck, then they went towards the dinner table and began their romantic dinner. What a beautiful night!

Two hours later, Mr. Morrison was sitting in front of the old TV and was switching channels until he finally found his favorite one, News! And excitedly began to watch it.

"Tonight, is one of the weirdest nights in the country," said the reporter.

"Reports show that rainfall occurred in most cities of England including London, Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester, etc. and after a while stopped everywhere simultaneously…"

Mr. Morrison was looking at the TV thoughtfully. His wife joined him while bringing two cups of green tea and sat beside him. The reporter continued:

"Also, reports of several cases of murder are registered in these rainy cities. And now I draw your attention to the report that my partner has gathered from Manchester…"

A few seconds later a teen short man appeared on TV:

"... I'm at the crime scene right now. It's terrifying. As you are watching, police officers are investigating the crime scene behind me. It also seems that the murdered was tortured before dying. The officers can't figure out the cause and the way the murder have happened,"

The face of the reporter appeared again:

"The cause of death is still unknown after it was investigated by scientists and physicians. They say these corpses had not taken any internal or external damages and that they've died mysteriously. Their bodies stopped working suddenly, like a TV without electricity. Fine but silent,"

The couple were closely paying attention to the dim-colored picture on the TV unaware that their life path would change moments later.

Unaware that nearby, maybe even less than two hundred meters away, a man with a wooden basket in hand was limping towards their home to change their fate forever. The news wasn't done that they heard a sound. A sound arose from the door: "knock knock! knock knock!"
