Exhilarated by their recent victory, Team Fire logged out of NexaRealm and returned to the real world. A wave of jubilation washed over them as they stepped away from their gaming rigs. Soo-jin, Hana, Sang-hee, and Jin-kyong immediately huddled together in a tight hug, their faces beaming with joy. Kang-dae watched over them with a proud smile, feeling a deep sense of accomplishment. They had done it. They had won their second round and secured their spot in the round of 8.
The celebration, though not the end of their journey, was a significant milestone. The feeling of qualifying for the next stage was a victory in itself. The girls laughed and cheered, their voices echoing through the room, while Kang-dae quietly revelled in their collective achievement.
"That was incredible!" Hana exclaimed, her eyes shining with excitement.
"We really pulled through as a team," Jin-kyong added, still catching her breath.
"We have to keep this momentum going," Sang-hee said, her voice filled with determination.
"We can celebrate tonight, but tomorrow, we need to focus on the next round," Soo-jin nodded.
As the next set of teams prepared to take the stage for their second match, Team Fire began to move away from the arena. They didn't want to linger and disrupt the flow of the competition. As they exited, a facilitator, one of the students' lecturers, approached them with a warm smile.
"Congratulations, Team Fire!" the lecturer said, extending a hand. "You played brilliantly out there."
"Thank you," Kang-dae replied, shaking the lecturer's hand. "We're really proud of how we performed."
"You should be. Winning two rounds back to back is no small feat. It also means that your match today is officially over. You saved yourselves from the possibility of a gruelling third round," The lecturer nodded.
"That's great to hear. We can rest and prepare for tomorrow," Soo-jin sighed in relief.
"Exactly," the lecturer continued. "The next stage of the tournament begins tomorrow at the same time. Take this time to rest and strategize. You'll need all your energy and focus for what's to come."
The team exchanged glances, understanding the gravity of the lecturer's words. The upcoming matches would only get tougher, and they needed to be at their best.
"Thank you for the advice," Hana said gratefully.
"Get some rest, all of you," the lecturer advised before overseeing the next match.
As they left the arena, the atmosphere was a mix of excitement and anticipation. They had earned their victory and now had to prepare for the challenges ahead. The road to the championship was still long, but with each victory, their confidence grew.
As Team Fire exited the arena, their excitement still palpable, they found themselves walking through the Game Building corridor. The conversation was animated, with everyone still buzzing about their unexpected but effective single-file rush tactic.
"I still can't believe that worked," Hana laughed, shaking her head. "It was so simple, yet it caught them completely off guard."
"It just goes to show that sometimes, the most straightforward strategies can be the most effective," Kang-dae replied, a proud smile on his face.
"We secured our spot in the next stage because of it. The round of 8, here we come!" Jin-kyong nodded.
As they walked slowly down the corridor, the sight of three figures at the end caught their attention. There was no need for alarm, as the familiar faces of Joon-ho, Hyun-ae, and Kyu came into focus. The three had watched both matches, cheering from the sidelines, and now they were here to greet their friends.
"Hey, champions!" Joon-ho called out, waving as they approached. "Congratulations on the win!"
"You guys were amazing! That single-file rush was genius," Hyun-ae smiled brightly while Kyu nodded in agreement.
Team Fire's members exchanged pleased glances, their faces flushed with pride and happiness. Seeing their friends so excited for their victory made the moment even more special.
"Thanks, guys," Kang-dae said, stepping forward to give Joon-ho a handshake that quickly turned into a hug. "Your support means a lot."
"Especially you, Joon-ho," Hana added. "We know you gave up your spot for us."
"It was worth it. You guys are killing it out there," Joon-ho shrugged with a grin.
The two groups merged, their laughter and conversation filling the corridor as they made their way toward the exit of the Game Building. The tournament had started in the morning, and by now, the sun was high in the sky, indicating it was well into the afternoon.
"How about we grab some lunch?" Sang-hee suggested. "I don't know about you guys, but I'm starving."
"Same here," Jin-kyong agreed. "We need to refuel after that intense match."
As they exited the building, the fresh air felt invigorating. The campus was bustling with activity, but the group found a moment of peace as they walked together. Their victory had not only secured their place in the next round but also strengthened their bond as a team and as friends.
They headed to the cafeteria, their spirits high. The usual eating spot was a popular norm to go to among students, offering a variety of meals that catered to all tastes. They found a large table and settled in, the aroma of food making their stomachs growl in anticipation.
"So, what's the plan for tomorrow?" Hyun-ae asked as they waited for their orders.
"Rest and strategy," Soo-jin replied. "We need to review our matches, see what worked and what didn't, and come up with new tactics for the next round."
"But tonight," Kang-dae interjected. "We celebrate. We've earned it."
Their food the brought to the chosen table, and the table was soon filled with plates of delicious dishes. As they ate, the conversation flowed easily, filled with laughter and stories from the matches. They relished the camaraderie, knowing that the road ahead would be challenging but feeling confident in their ability to face it together.
"To Team Fire, and to make it to the round of 8," Joon-ho raised his glass, a wide grin on his face.
"To Team Fire," everyone followed, clinking their glasses together.
As they ate, Kang-dae leaned back and looked at their friends.
"So, you guys watched the matches. Any thoughts on what we can improve on?"
"Honestly, you guys did great. But there were a few moments where you could tighten up your coordination. Like, during the initial skirmish in the second match, there were times when it seemed like you were hesitating," Joon-ho, ever analytical, nodded thoughtfully.
"Yeah, I noticed that too. There was a bit of a delay in your responses, like when Soo-jin and Hana split off to deal with that Fighter. Maybe work on faster decision-making and communication. You all need to be on the same page more consistently," Hyun-ae agreed.
"Positioning," Kyu chimed in. Just a word from this man.
"There were a few instances where Jin-kyong was a bit exposed. It's great that you rely on her marksmanship, but keeping her better protected might help. Maybe Sang-hee could conjure her shields more dynamically to create safer zones for Jin-kyong to operate from," Joon-ho covered, knowing well that Kyu may not elaborate his wording at all.
"That's a good point. Sometimes I get too caught up in the moment and forget about our formation. We can definitely work on that," Soo-jin nodded as she sipped her drink.
"And our use of skills. We have powerful abilities, but we need to time them better. I think there were moments where we used them out of sync, missing out on potential combos," Hana, twirling her fork in her pasta, added.
Thanks, guys. These are all great points. We'll definitely take them to heart and work on them," Kang-dae smiled, appreciating the constructive feedback.
"You did a great job with the shields, by the way. But maybe experiment with different types of barriers. Sometimes a quick, smaller shield might be more effective than a larger, static one," Joon-ho looked at Sang-hee.
"I'll definitely try that. It's all about adapting to the situation, right?" Sang-hee nodded thoughtfully.
As they continued eating, the conversation flowed smoothly between strategies and casual banter. The camaraderie was palpable, and everyone felt a sense of shared purpose and excitement for what lay ahead.
"What did you think about the single-file rush? It felt risky, but it worked," Jin-kyong, in between bites of her burger, asked.
"It was brilliant. Sometimes the simplest tactics are the most unexpected. But don't rely on it too much. The element of surprise won't be there next time," Hyun-ae laughed.
"Exactly. It was perfect for this match but keeps evolving. Flexibility is key," Kyu added.
"We won't. We'll keep it in our arsenal but continue to innovate. Thanks for the advice," Kang-dae nodded.
As the meal wound down, the plates were cleared, and everyone leaned back, feeling satisfied and content. The victory had been sweet, and the meal even sweeter for the sense of unity and support that surrounded them.
