"So my mom is a dragon so I have draconic ancestry. The other side would be my father. I have elf-like ears." Jules wiggled her ears, and gently touched the tips of them as she walked across the barren wasteland. "So I'm assuming the other side is elvish. System, how do I unlock the other side?"

[Get a quest involving your father.]

"So am I going to have to hug my father too? If my mom is that scary, who knows what kind of freak impregnated her, am I right?"

[Would you like to spend your skill points?]

"Before I do, the skills that are labeled by level instead of skill point cost, does that increase with use?"

[Yes.]

"Alright, I got 1 Skill Point from hugging my mom and it was used to purchase the automatic translation. I have 3 remaining, so I must get 3 per level up right?"

[Yes.]

"Okay. So that means to get Ice magic, I need to level up 10 times, and to get chaotic magic I need to level up 5 times. Show me my current EXP compared to my max EXP."

[3/125]

"What's the formula to determine EXP?"

[You are too low level to know.]

"Okay. Then back on skills. May I simulate what would happen if I put my skill points in?"

[No.]

"What bad game design. Okay. Let's go lightning magic for 1!"

[This is a skill that allows Jules, formerly known as Sylas, to learn and utilize lightning based spells.]

"What is incredible!"

"I can breathe fire, or rather do a breath attack? Damn, but I'm going to have to level up twice just to get it. Actually, I could just level up once and get the Breath Attack. But on the other hand if I level up twice I will have enough for Resistance and Breath Attack. Is that by design? If I breathe lightning, will my mouth be charred by the heat?"

As Jules uttered the word "charred", she walked past a charred human, the crumbling black flesh against the beige dry ground sent shivers down Jule's back.

"I guess I'll just save my skill points for now."

[You have Stat Points Available!]

"Oh nice."

[Would you like to view them?]

"Yes."

Rin, rin! Bell chimes rang around Jules.

[Thou doth not understand thyself]

[Stats locked.]

"What the fuck. What other menus do I have?"

[Inventory, Quest, Shop]

"Access Inventory."

[Thou doth not have pockets.]

"Access Quest?"

[Where art thou acquaintances?]

"Access Shop!"

[Thou has no Joost Nomisma.]

"System! Stop blue balling me."

[Erm, you don't have any.]

"Figure of speech!" Jules sighed, "Besides, my stats have been going up without me actually putting any points into it. Did they increase with my level?"

[Yes.]

"Okay. Can you give me a rundown on how to use magic?"

[There is a magic guide available. Would you like to know how to use it?]

"Hell yeah!"

[Loading Guide…]

Jules crossed from the barren wasteland to the lush green forest. As she felt the soft ground mush against her feet, she let out a sigh of relief. Her body had been rapidly healing back after being force fed the healing potion. It had a bitter aftertaste. For a while after consuming the healing potion she felt her blood course throughout her body. It felt as though she had been getting hit by chilling waves from the ocean while sitting on a beach under a blistering day.

"I have to tell them." She shivered. "It wouldn't be right to just waltz back into their home and expect them to take care of me like they have been for the past 2 months. What are their thoughts on me? What if I don't talk like I'm supposed to. Will they understand me System with the auto translation skill?"

[I'm loading the guide on Magic right now.]

"Of course." She continued walking. "I need to come up with something though. I can't just walk up to them. Hey Rose, Mrs. Miner, I just murdered your husband because he tried to kill me. I think he might have thought of me as a devil. Haha, weird innit." She tapped her horns. "Anyways, he's a terrible guy really. Divorce must have been coming soon. Can I stay with you guys for a while before I get back on my feet?"

[Almost done.]

Jules walked in silence for a moment, her mind engulfed in thought. "Now let's say that I don't tell them. I have to come up with some lie." Her calves throbbed. "That would be wrong. It would be worse, eventually they will find out, but that's only if someone found his body in the cave. Like that dragon guy in armor. Let's say he finds him. How good are police investigations in this world? I wonder if the police found my old body. Focus, Sylas."

She slapped herself. "Can I live with myself, among them, with smiles and comfort; knowing that I've murdered their main provider, a father, a husband. Luigi is awfully attached to him. Damn!"

[Guide loaded, do you want it now?]

"Honestly speaking, right. How would I explain his disappearance and my reappearance? The horse is gone as well. The Dragon of Chaos came by, killed the horse and took him away. Trust me though, the dragon spared me. Why? Cuz it's my mother that's why! Your mother is the Dragon of Chaos? Wow that accurately explains why you look like a freak of nature. You devil. BUT! They treated me so nicely. They gave me food, a bed to sleep on, and they even gave me clothes, and baths."

Jules sunk her face into the palms of her hand. She paused. She wanted to scream, but she swallowed it like vomit. As her throat sizzled, sparks of lightning ran between her horns. "What are you waiting for, System? Start the guide."

She continued to walk back to the miner's home as the System delivered the information into her brain.

[Magic.]

[Long ago it was {REDACTED}]

["{REDACTED}" - {REDACTED} the Sorcerer]

[Through the use of mana one can {REDACTED}. {REDACTED} manipulation is an aspect of magic.]

[Try it!]

"I hope Mario stabs me so I can reincarnate away from you System."

[You don't mean that.]

"You know."

Jules chuckled as quickly as she blinked. She walked in silence for several hours, taking in the chitter chatter of the forest. Her mind was a melting pot of scenarios: from a short life that ends with her being buried with Moodin; to a long life where she grows old and fights heroes with the boys.

By the time she reached the outskirts of the farm, the howling of the Circadian Wolves shook the world. "A whole day wasted, walking and trying to survive." Her stomach twisted in on itself, and belched out a cry for sustenance. She hugged her stomach. Stared at house pouting she whispered, "Rose. Please have some nice stew ready."

She looked at her bare feet. Drowsiness overtook her as she took cover in the bushes. She dozed off for an hour before she woke to the sound of thunderclouds and light tapping of rain on her forehead. The sky was dark gray with bright moonlight peering through the clouds that were quickly overtaking the canvas of the sky.

Instinctively she ran over to the house. Splashing against the puddles, attracting mud to attach to her feet, and bugs to gnaw on her ankles. Once she got to the door, she took a breath, then bursted into the home.
