Oh God, they are coming for me. As the sudden bang of the fist jump-scared the arrays of super computers on the table, the man fell into the arms of his chair.
No, I won't hand myself over to them. His eyes burned fanatically, his tongue licking away the dryness of cowardice from his lips. With a firm stomp, he jolted from his chair.
The next thing felt like a bizzare short-circuit in a movie, causing the current scene to be missed and be played randomly from somewhere different.
It was the same man, different clothes, and a more groovy face, hastily making way through the suffocating white passages.
"Unbelievable! They even caught me here!" Shaking his head, he reached out his hand and wrested hold of the next turn with his sweaty palm. Giving the wall a little pull, he slid into the turn.
The instant his hand left the curve of the wall, a booming explosion blasted him into a gaping darkness.
The air punctured into his pores, causing each one to sting. The annoying buzzing in his head only intervened by his low groans.
But the shock lasted momentarily, he quickly regained his bearings and stood up on his feet that seemed to wobble less every second.
The instant he straightened up, a crisp alram dragged his eyes forward.
It wasn't a passage, but again a high-tech room with hundreds of super computers all around him.
His body was void of any sort of scarring or brusies, but the string of notifications he was receiving weighened down on his jaw and pulled it loose.
His hands found way into his unkempt hair, his eyes trembling as he raised a foot, only to slip and fall on his butt.
"This is... this can't be... They deceived me... or maybe, they are decived themselves? Who is doing this? Who is lying to us? Who is the mastermind?" He crawled over to the screen, took a quick sneaky peek, and kicked himself back with a yelp.
"No! This universe is not what it was... This universe has forgotten itself! We all have forgotten our truth! ...They won't let me live, they will kill me... they are coming for me."
His fingers grinded in midts his clacking jaw, his eyes swung to door to door, to every nook and cranny fearing any gaze.
"No! I WON'T HAND MYSELF OVER TO YOU!"
The scene froze in place, or, the two eyes observing the man froze in place. They stared in silence as he screamed and yelled while crawling toward the door.
His figure grew smaller, until he vanished behind the darkness of the door. The air stilled, something unnerving plucked at Eron's heart.
His body which had lost control, unable to even flutter his eyelids, suddenly veered back.
There he was, a man, nothing as beastly as before, admiring himself in the mirror.
He had smooth hair slid back, a pair of keen eyes and a strong face.
"Today's my last day, they are coming... and they will come! They aren't anything as they might seem, just and upright... they are scared fools guarding the curtain they don't even know has been drapped over their minds, their existences.
"But that matters not to me, they can be whatever they may, protect whatever they desire, and kill me howsoever they wish... My job, my aspiration, was to uncover the curtain. I did, and now I will pay the price.
"But I had a thought, what a pity it will be that nobody beside me will ever know this secret... so I will leave behind a remnant— a legacy of mine!
"And you who uncovers it," His eyes squinted, the gaze he directed into the mirror changed, "Are probably just another me."
Eron, staring at him because that's all that he could, suddenly found himself sucked into the mirror. Unable to even scream, and be forced to meet him eye-to-eye.
A grin suddenly stretched across his face. His shoulders rocked lightly, before he burst loud into a cackle.
His voice swelled and swelled, drowning the lights out and scummbing Eron to darkness.
With a shudder, he felt the control of his body return.
"Where the hell am I? What is happening?" He spread his arms out, and squinted his eyes to no availing of the darkness, before cautiously attempting to feel the ground beneath him.
But just as he drew his feet back, somebody seemed to pull the rug from beneath him, making him stumble and fall into the darkness.
A shrill scream loosened out of his mouth, and he scared his surroundings bright.
His heart throbbed like a train's engine, a slight buzzing numbed his skull, and groggily, he turned his head around.
The first thing to catch his attention were the thick bars pulling up from the ground and into the roof.
And beyond the bars were more and more bars.
"Cells? Prison cells?" A hoarse voice came out of his throat.
"What is..." His eyes spun back to himself and then at his two cell-mates.
One was a fragile boy, and the other was a beefy man.
He instantly recognised the kid and dashed toward him, "You! What are you doing here!?"
"Y-You are... awake?" His face beamed at first, before his eyes withdrew to the side.
"Wh-What has happened?" Eron sneaked glances to the other guy with his legs folded and eyes shut.
"It was Kai... he had his men find me... and take me here." His hands rolled into fists, his warbling voice working to no result on his glinting, indignant eyes.
"Took you here?" His mind spun to his own encounter with him last night.
"But... what will he get from this?" Eron frowned and distanced himself a little.
"This is... this place is..." The boy's eyes spun left and right, before he crawled over and whispered, "The upper district!"
"The upper district?" His heart fluttered a halt, his thoughts colliding into a wall. "The upper district!?"
"Kai has kidnapped us... I heard some men talking about how the fights were going to be interesting with this batch."
"Kidnapped? Fights?" Eron stared at the kid with a silly grin, "What a sweet dream I am having."
