Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Milo was seated on his office chair with his two parents sitting on the visitor's chair in front of him. He had an aloof expression on his face but inside, he was begging them to leave already.

"Milo" his mother, Luria called but he raised his hand up to stop her. She raised her eyebrow at his obvious disrespect. "Mom, I'm sorry, but dad is way easier to handle than you. Please come back later. Dad?" He looked at his father.

Ivan was not in the mood for the mother-son drama, so he went straight to the point "it's time for you to take over the business Milo" he said and Milo shut him down immediately "No, I'm okay with what I'm doing right now. Thank you very much. Besides, the last time I checked, I had 3 brothers" He told his father, but Ivan was not having it this time "Milo, I make the choices for my company, and I want you to run it. You're the only competent son I have" Ivan rolled his eyes and Luria looked at him because of what he said. Milo was still not having it.

"Mr. Ivan, all I could hear from your mouth was 'this is my problem' and I totally agree with you. If they are not competent, then you make them. Peace" he said in a cool and calm voice.

Milo was the third son of Ivan and Luria. He had always tried to have a peaceful relationship from young with his brothers, but they were always competing with each other for the title of owning their father's company. He could not take the pressure of all of that and left home after he was done with university to start his own company.

He had a lot of falls but he never stopped trying. He went broke a few times, but he never asked his father for money. Milo was able to walk his way up the charts using his own strength and wisdom until he became his own boss and had his conglomerate. He began to top different charts in the business industry and his name went wide, and his father heard of him. His father wants him to take over the company because he has seen that he can make the family's legacy grow, but Milo wants absolutely nothing to do with it to avoid the wrath of his brothers.

"Look, Milo" his father moved forward in a way to let him in on something "I know what exactly you're worried about. It's your brothers, but you don't have to be worried about them. We could just do this quietly without anybody knowing. When you're ready to merge your company and the family's own, we'll do it. When we tell everyone about you taking over after the merging, your brothers won't be able to do anything about it" Ivan gave out his well thought out plan.

Milo also leaned forward "Mr. Ivan, you just called it a family's business. It's family. Please discuss this with your whole family, not only me" Milo said to his father. Luria had been quiet during the whole conversation, but she could keep silent for this one.

 "Milo Vincenzo Ivanov"

"Dear God" Milo fell back on his seat. Luria continued in her strict voice "How dare you say that to your father? Are you not part of the family? What do you mean by 'your'? Have you suddenly lost respect for your father and your family?" Luria was close to shouting at her son. She turned to her husband "And you". Ivan looked at his wife. He was wondering what he did to the lioness to make her face him. "How could you call your sons incompetent? As long as they came from my womb, they are not incompetent. They have just not grown, and I blame that on me. But don't ever call any of my sons incompetent" she called him out for what he did. Father and son both said simultaneously "I'm sorry". Both Ivan and Milo knew that Luria liked a peaceful home. She never tolerated anything that looked like division.

"But this is my main issue mom. I own a parent company and so does dad. I can't take two Conglomerates. What am I? A robot?" Milo laid out his problem and his father thought about it and saw that he was right. His mother as well. Luria thought about it for a while.

She saw this as a big opportunity to make sure her son marries a powerful woman with a good background. After thinking, she said "Now" Luria turned to Milo "I have a deal for you" His mother told him and Milo nodded signifying he was listening, but Luria did not like that "Answer me boy" she said in her authoritative voice and Milo immediately complied "Yes ma'am". Luria cleared her throat "we have two options for you. You either marry someone who is powerful and strong enough to lead with you, or you stay unmarried and lead the two conglomerates. Which one will it be?"

Luria was a lover of romance novels, so she knew the whole stereotypes. The rich dominant boys always fell in love with the poor submissive girls. She liked how they happened in books, but she did not want that to play out in her son's life. She wanted a strong, powerful and money filled daughter-in-law. Little did she know that the girl on Milo's mind was all of that and more. In Milo's thought, he already knew Amelia would be the one dominating him.

Milo did not show his happiness at his mother's deal. His face was completely void of emotions and he replied "Deal".
