Chapter 28 - 28: Dungeon?

Back to the training field

"Stop! Mikey wins."

Mikey walked up to Cashel and held out his hand. Cashel accepted it and helped himself up.

"Good game." He said with a smile although his face was bruised and bleeding.

"Yeah, although you mad some mistakes. It's an easy fix though, want me to tell you?" Mikey replied.

"Okay, feel free."

Mikey cleared his throat and began to speak.

"You put too much trust and confidence in your weapon, you rushed in without any technique, you underestimated me and didn't take the fight seriously. You hesitated for a full second which gave me a chance to kill you but I didn't.

I only chucked in a heavy blow. You didn't use your brain in the middle of the fight or you would have noticed that the fireball and golems were distractions. By predicting your actions, I made three baby kangaroos that would turn into nails and pin you down in exactly 25 seconds."

"Woah, you're quite brainy. Let's train together, I bet we can improve our weak points together." Cashel grinned and thus started a weird win-win friendship.

On another side, Asher and Flynn were hitting it off too.

"I'm sure I'll get to copy some good spells from you." Flynn smiled.

"Haha, I bet you have some good copied spells." They gave a 'friendly' handshake.

Meanwhile, on the sidelines, Victoria turned to Flenchwester with a tired look.

"Anymore of this and I'll retire by tomorrow."

"Same."

———

After two hours, Marigold, Luke and Mia finished with the test. Luke got [Teleport], Marigold got [Spell Inventory] and saint Mia got [Elemental Assimilation].

Marigold's [Spell Inventory] allowed her to store spells in a separate space till the limit of her mental capacity and unleash them with incantations.

Mia's [Elemental Assimilation] allowed her to assimilate and become one with her respective elements — Light and Wind. She could become wind, she could become light. A very useful ability and one that would help her achieve her goal.

Luke's ability was well... literally it's name. Teleporting distances till the limit of his mental capacity but there was more. He could teleport his spells too. As he had the wind affinity, it was useful.

'Pheraphs with this, I can defeat my older brother!' he thought with a grin on his face.

———

After the Magic Combat class, it was time for the Weapon Combat class and it was held in the same training field. Everyone were grouped into pairs to duel with each other but thier performance was outright disappointing.

Sitting on a single spot, meditating and trying to cast a spell without casting had taken it's toll on them.

"Oi, what's wrong with you guys?! You were more enthusiastic yesterday!" Jason, the instructor shouted.

He was unaware of the training session that had taken place just about thirty minutes before his class. It was totally unannounced, a secret plan between Victoria and Flenchwester although it was poorly planned.

The students would still talk about this to someone later on.

Only four people were still active. Asher, Flynn, Cashel and Mikey. They used blunt weapons provided by the school and they couldn't use mana unless they were allowed.

Asher held a jian and Flynn took daggers, Cashel was with a spear and Mikey with a staff. They were told to have secondary weapons so they were training with the for the next two weeks.

Asher nimbly maneuvered through Flynn's defense and he delivered a heavy blow to the side of Flynn's leather armor.

Flynn gasped a little as he fell to the ground but his brain still functioned. As he fell, he took a chance to cut Asher's feet but it was dodged.

Asher had been taken by surprise so he made a weird turn to avoid the attack on his legs but he lost his footing and fell but with quick reflexes, he held himself up.

"Stop! It's a draw." Jason walked over.

Flynn, who was still lying on the ground. His dagger was just within an inch of Asher's back, the reason Asher held himself up.

...but... The poor guy was in a more dangerous spot.

Asher's jian stopped midway of cutting through Flynn's 'forbidden place'. (╥﹏╥)

"A-are you trying to kill me or something?" Flynn's voice quivered.

"Heh." Asher only gave a smile. "Good game. Let's fight another time."

On the other side, it was a completely different scene.

Cashel laid beaten black and blue all over and Mikey stood victorious.

"You're still too predictable. Your mind wanders off in the middle of battle like you're missing your battle partner. P.S, I know who she is.

You should put less force in your weapon, even though you didn't notice it, it still swings you about a little and it's messing up your technique. Put in more control." Mikey lectured.

"Yesh, sher. Shank yu." Cashel could barely breathe.

~Ding Dong~

The bell rang and immediately, everyone collapsed. It was time for the "Magic Engineering" class and surprisingly or not, 397 people skipped it.

Only Asher, Flynn and Mikey sat in front of a sceptical Wilston. Cashel wasn't taking such a 'tedious' class in the first place.

"What is this? Why are 3 of the top ten troublemakers on my list here? In this holy laboratory?" Wilston raised an eyebrow.

"I wouldn't be surprised if they burnt up your laboratory with how stressed out they are. Also, aren't you 'allergic' to holy places? Mr Vamp."

"Holy Gaia, even vampires worship godesses. Who wouldn't worship one as beautiful as her." Wilston pulled out a small statue of the goddess and placed it on the table.

It was attached to a chain and when he touched it, there was a a twinge of pain on his face.

"Even though it hurts when I touch it, I'm starting to love this pain." Wilston spoke like a young maiden in love.

"Jeez, grow up. How old are you anyways." Mikey sighed.

"267 is pretty young for immortal vampires. Our ancestor Dracula is still alive and kicking at a hundred thousand. That aside though, The dungeon outing us in two weeks, I should make some changes to the timetable."

"Dungeon?" Mikey spoke.

"Dungeon?" Asher raised an eyebrow.

"Dungeon?" Flynn didn't want to be left out.

Asher was seriously doubting his memories at this moment and this wasn't the first but the third time.

The first one was with the general families. The Von Wights were meant to be the only one. The second was with unique skills and now,

'There are dungeons in this world?'

Wasn't this meant to be a planet-conquering world? Going through portals that appeared, conquering the worlds on the other side? Asher had a feeling that these surprises wouldn't end.

"Of course." Wilston replied

"But, isn't this way too early? There are still black core mages among us." Mikey spoke.

"I never said I'd be taking everyone. It's only the top two hundred. The weakest is at the crimson core and the strongest is well..." Wilston's voice trailed off at the end as he glanced at Asher.

"I never bothered to ask or check, but what is my ranking on official papers?" Asher asked.

"Obsidian."
