''Vincent, this concerns my family. If I don't do as Fernandez says and this engagement falls through, my parents are going to be unhappy with me. My father will not allow me to pursue my dreams of being a writer.'' Lauren looked anxious as she spoke. She touched her prostrate leg and sighed.
''I've been trying to get out of this relationship but my parents won't let me. Anytime, I find someone who likes me, once they find out that I lost one of my limbs to an accident, they don't contact me again.'' Lauren continued.
''So, you are willing to be with Fernandez because he don't mind that you are disabled?'' Vincent asked.
''At least he doesn't seem to be repulsed by me.''
