Who could have blamed them when the hunters, their heroes were absolutely demolished by a bunch of goons? It gave birth to another problem: Activists.
It was a golden opportunity for the people who had been worried about the influence of the awakened. They went to action, framing the hunters as worthless soldiers who couldn't even protect them.
Thankfully, the public had too many problems to pay attention to the activists, and soon enough, their movement was squashed by the megacorps that owned most of the guilds.
