When Adrian reached A'Mila, her body was convulsing from the fatal wound. With one look, Adrian knew A'Mila wouldn't survive. In fact, it was a miracle she wasn't dead already.
"A'Mila!" Adrian cried out, dropping to his knees beside her. "No, no, stay with me..."
He gently cradled her head in his arms as tears streamed down his face. Sensing his touch, A'Mila's eyes fluttered open, her breathing was shallow and laboured as she took in the sight of Adrian's crybaby face.
Despite the immense pain wracking her body, she couldn't help but smile weakly as she saw Adrian. The sight of him safe and sound brought a flicker of happiness to her heart, knowing that she had succeeded in saving him after all.
She tried to speak, but no words came out of her mouth. However, her eyes conveyed everything—gratitude, love, and the inevitable goodbye.
"Hold on, A'Mila," Adrian whispered, his voice breaking. "Just hold on. Help is coming."
