With that done, Adrian returned to the fey and gently picked him up. Even though he was there to kill the darn thing from the beginning, he felt strange about it now.

Instead of attacking the man, he should have thanked him for making his job easier. Then why was he acting so sympathetic towards the fey when he didn't care about the man?

As much as Adrian wanted to solve his dilemma there, he didn't have the time to. The fey, roughly the size of a newborn, could feel what was coming next, but he smiled instead of trying to escape.
Adrian didn't know what was going on inside the creature's head, but he wrapped the whip around the fey's head before snapping it in half. A bright light suddenly emerged from the beast, blinding Adrian.
