Having heard Ray raise his voice at Emily, Lenny just sighed and headed for the stairs.
He knew that Ray just needed some time to accept the reality of hardship, along with the loneliness, frustration, and anger that accompanied it.
After all, Lenny had constantly experienced such firsthand for approximately five years now.
He never prayed for Ray to struggle, but the reality was stark, and the soon-to-be father was now a common waiter for a small local diner, lacking efficient means to provide for his family.
And frankly, apart from reconciling with Ray and offering little assistance from time to time, there was nothing Lenny could do about that.
He also had problems of his own. He would soon be jobless and would still have to pay his debt installment of about $30,000 by next month, otherwise Boss Falcone would force Lenny to work for him.
Reaching the door numbered '401', it suddenly opened and a middle-aged man emerged.
