As Lukas dashed towards the monstrous boss, he steeled himself for the brutal battle ahead. The org let out an ear-splitting roar as it spotted its prey approaching, raising its massive bone club high.
Lukas darted to the side as the club smashed down, the ground shuddering from the impact. He leapt towards the org's arm, using his momentum to propel himself upwards. His saber gleamed as he swung with all his might, slicing a deep gash into the org's flesh. A foul-smelling green ichor spilled from the wound.
Enraged, the org swung its club wildly, nearly crushing Lukas as he rolled away. He knew he had to end this quickly before his stamina ran out. Seeing the opportunity, it's time for him to do his trump card: Magic!
He pointed his saber, which swiftly turned into its original graceful form of a pen. He pointed the pen directly at the org, which was struggling to grab its club.
Without further delay, he gushed out a lot of earth essence, instantly forming it in front of the pen. He activated the spell.
Simultaneously, multiple sigils appeared, completely changing the shape as it started spinning rapidly. Spikes appeared like an actual drill. With a flick of his hand, the drill launched towards the unfortunate org with frightening speed.
Lukas narrowed his eyes in focus. With a twitch of his finger, the drill spun faster until it was a blur of deadly spikes. Giving the org a glimpse of what was coming, it had no chance to dodge or deflect the oncoming attack. With a thunderous boom, the drill made impact, burrowing deeply into the creature's chest.
Green blood exploded outwards as the drill spun. The org let out an agonized shriek that shook the very stones beneath their feet. It dropped its bone club and clutched desperately at the wound, but there was no saving it from its demise.
The org slowly fell to its knees. Its whole body started breaking apart from within, before the effect of the spell slowly disappeared. Along with its body and the dyed green soil underneath it.
[You have passed the 10th floor, 200 Credit points have been rewarded. Along with two mana recovery potion tokens at the dormitory.]
[Proceed to next floor?]
Lukas took a moment to take a deep breath and looked at the place where the corpse of the org was.
Thankfully it worked. Well, why wouldn't it? It has already reached level two. He also named it Spiraling Drill.
The details:
[][] Spiraling Drill (Lv: 2): Transforms essence into a spinning drill, adding sharpness along with condensed Elemental essence.
Contains: Sigil of shaping: Circle, Sigil of sharpness, Sigil of Pathwave, Sigil of condensed, Sigil of spiral.
He gazed at the floating blue screen up in the air, reminding him of the next floor. He knew very well he would be in trouble in the next floor.
He sighed, realizing he had to check the next floor sooner or later. Thus, with an uncertain heart. He grabbed his soul gear firmly. The pen slowly transformed into its second form, a saber.
"Yes, proceed to the next floor," he said.
His surroundings began to change, making him more certain that he was in trouble. Every time the room changed, the mobs changed too, and the challenge became harder, just like on the fifth floor with that troll boss.
As the environment shifted around Lukas, he steeled himself for anything. When the mist cleared, he gasped. Before him stretched an endless sea of sand, baking under the heat of twin suns.
Rising from the dunes were immense stone structures, the crumbling ruins of some long-forgotten civilization. And emerging from the ruins... were they lions? No, their bodies were too muscular, their manes too shaggy and wild. They were a whole pride of sand lions, and they had caught Lukas's scent.
Lukas cursed, recognizing what they were. Sand lions. A simple name, but almost a death sentence for him. He saw two of them rushing towards him.
Lukas gritted his teeth and quickly pointed his pen, releasing earth essence. He cast as quickly as he could, but it wasn't quick enough. The ferocious lions were about to reach him and tear him apart!
Just in the nick of time, he was within one of their grasp. The sigils finished forming and changing the shape.
With a flick of his hand, it launched toward one of the lions.
The spiraling drill shot forward with blurring speed, but the other massive sand lion was mere feet from Lukas. At the last moment, he dove to the side, feeling the searing heat on his cheeks as the beast's razor claws swiped where he had just stood.
Rolling into a crouch, Lukas saw that his drill had found its mark. The lion let out an agonized roar as it was pierced through the chest, blood spraying from the wound.
Heart pounding, Lukas knew he had to act fast. He quickly changed the form of the pen and tried to retreat, but he wasn't fast enough.
As Lukas dove to the side, the second sand lion pounced with lightning speed. Lukas tried to bring his saber up to block, but the beast was too quick. Its massive paw slammed into his weapon arm with brutal force, and Lukas heard a sickening crack. Gritting his teeth, he used all of the aura enveloping his saber. Seeing the intense deep purple aura forming, the lion backed away. Lukas also tried, but the excruciating pain in his broken palm intensified as the aura enveloped his hand. If it were his past way of life, this kind of pain would be nothing. But unfortunately, living a life of a sheltered turtle for twelve years, the pain was too much for him, causing him to lower his hand slightly. This was enough for the lion to take action.
Seeing its prey off guard, it snapped forward, jaws opening impossibly wide. Lukas threw up his left arm in a desperate defense, forgetting that unlike in his past life, he didn't have any armor on.
The lion's razor-sharp teeth sank deep into his flesh. He screamed as the lion thrashed its head, tearing and shredding. The pain stopped as the tower blocked it before Lukas could recover and stab the lion with the saber.
With a final, bloody rip, his left hand was torn cleanly from his arm. Blood gushed from the ragged stump, soaking the sand beneath him.
The lion paused, munching on his arm and then quickly gazed at the bigger piece of meat, its next meal.
