The bride and groom seemed like two ghosts during the wedding that continued as if no guns had been pointed in the bridal suite. They sat just long enough to be announced as a married couple then stood up and left the reception hall with Alonso Senior who had avoided eye contact with Alonso and Natalie the entire time.
At least she was thankful for that much. There was hell to receive from her in-laws, but the longer she could postpone it, the better for her.
"Hang in there, just a little while longer," Alonso whispered in her ear as if what had happened wasn't her fault. If it weren't for his pale face, she would have believed he had already fully recovered from the shock they went through.
