There were no words that could describe Natalie's horror when she saw that black gun over the serving plate. All that she could think about at that moment was how much she appreciated that Alonso was nowhere around.
I must protect them.
Without thinking about what she was doing or the consequences of her actions, Natalie pushed the wheeled table back with all her power then hurried to slam the door in the loan shark's face. The criminal was two steps ahead of her; getting out of the cart's way and then putting his thick boots in the path of the door which bounced when it collided with his foot.
"Come here!"
"Ah!"
He grabbed Natalie by the hair and pulled her along with him then entered the room and slammed the door behind them. The gun he had retrieved was already pointed at Natalie's head, and her stomach churned when the cold steel pressed against her scar.
