It had been a short while since they entered the factory. As Captain Havery and the other three short combatants gained the lead, everything fell into place.

The Magus (long ranged) readily accepted the middle ground and held up their end as well.

All were weaving their heads and searching for impending danger. All but him....

Hex glanced around the factory before returning to Mizumi, who tightened her grip on his arm.

"Let me go, it's not like I'm running!" Hex hissed, jerking his arm in her fierce hold, which hurt him more than it did her.

"Uhm!" She shook her head violently, expressing her unwillingness. "I won't let you go. Now our life's are intertwined...."

"Shut the crap you lazy Arch caster!" Hex cuts in harshly, refusing to hear any more of her complaints.

'Arch caster, how did he know?'

Mizumi spent her time contemplating her options before responding with a nod.

Hex was angered by her persistent obnoxious behavior.

'I should have said I was a short ranged attacker and gone with whatever consequences.....'

"Kukuku, she did that with grey too."

Hex moved his eyes to the left and noticed another Magus laughing at him.

He was a tall, slender man who smoked a cigarette regardless of his health. He did not appear very brilliant as he carried black bags beneath his eyes.

Creepy stranger....

"Wow, You're really skinny!" Hex searched through the man's physique.

It looked like the mere wind could even knock him off his stand.

"Oh you sound just like grey!" The man laughed again.

He seemed carefree.

'I think this fool is drunk, such spectacular traits would only lead to the grave.'

"And you sound just like the flimsy fly I swatted on my way here."

"Kukukuku!" The man moved in close to Hex, placed a hand over his shoulder in an act of goodwill.

'This group have no respect for personal space..!'

Hex shrugged in the midst of this two. He wasn't a fan of being hurdled up with friends.

"Do you want to loose your arm?"

The man laughed again. "Dunno you want me to loose one."

"Yes! Maybe both bastard."

Mizumi giggled again, attracting Hex's attention.

"Since grey died, Hermock hasn't smiled much," she whispered into Hex's ears. "They were best friends, so you know what I am trying to say?"

Hex rolled his eyes spitting a sigh. "Yes, I understand."

'This fool is trying to use me as a replacement for his dead friend. How greedy. This group is turning out to be a waste owned by psychos.'

"What kind of Cursed ability do you have?" Hermock asked with a puzzled yet annoying look.

Hex lowered his face, perplexed as to why anybody would ask him that.

In the world of Cursed Slayers it was necessary to keep your cursed ability secret.

No one could know when your best friend could back stab you.

"Tell me your's first," Hex played his own card. Could it be that this individual did not regard his safety enough to inform him?

Apparently no....

"Kukuku! What am I stupid?"

Just as Hex expected this trickster wanted to acquire his ability to know his profound weakness.

'Could it be that he's mad at how Mizumi is holding me?'

Well that would explain everything. The reason he approached Hex and grabbed his shoulder.

Everything was finally starting to make sense.

{Phantom analyzed}

Name: Hermock

Level: 46

Race: human

Job: Cursed slayer

Skills: Sound scream

Status: hatred, jealousy.

So Hex was right about it. Perhaps he even killed his own closest buddy to get this girl who was so devoted to Hex.

So what to do....

Hex moved his sight to Mizumi, who was deep in contemplation and still securely clutching his shoulder.

The right thing was to tell her to hold him instead. To avoid making an enemy.

"Mizumi...."

Mizumi shifted her gaze to stare Hex in the eyes.

"Your eyes look so beautiful, I have been feeling this way for a while, but I think you're cute." Hex's statement made her cheeks tone red.

'What the fuck she's actually blushing! Your eyes look like dirt and you're far from cute you clingy bitch!'

"R-really...." Mizumi stammered.

"Kukuku! That's a nice thing to say isn't it bro?" Hex felt Hermock grab on his shoulder firmly in an attempt to persuade him to leave.

This made Hex grin widely.

'Fucking idiot, I will make sure you don't get this girl....'

At this moment Hex had no idea why he was doing this anymore.

"I also think, y-you, look cute... Hex." Mizumi also replied him. She was still blushing and somewhat cringing this moment to go further.

Hex didn't expect such an answer. He was hoping she would simply look aside and say something like "focus on the mission."

So she was also a straight-forward person.

"H-how would you like to come over to my place after this mission?"

Hex was taken aback by her fast answer, which was a worldless nod.

'Men, I was correct not to go bald.'

"Hey Hex boy, why don't we have also a small...." Before Hermock could complete Hex shoved his hand off his shoulder roughly.

This dazes him to a halt.

"Shut the hell up, can't you see I am talking to someone important."

With this, Hex and Mizumi abandoned Hermock.

Hermock stayed motionless for a few seconds, repeating Hex's response to him. This infuriated him.

'I killed grey so I could have Mizumi, now this stranger is trying to take her from me...'

He resumed walking with a new layer of interest.....

'This bastard dies in this gap!'

{Boss I don't think we should be making enemies like Hermock}

'Moltivate yourself Phantom, killing that guy will be....'

"Hex please don't talk to Hermock that way, he is really short tempered." Mizumi spoke calmly.

Hex sighed, as if he had not previously realized it. He could already picture why she didn't like Hermock.

"He smokes, has a bad personality and he is forceful, right?" Hex asked and to his anticipation she hesitated before nodding.

Hex could already tell who Hermock was. He was from an influential family, those attributes were heredited.

Not that he had any beef with them in his former life but they had beef with him.

Now come to think of it, he met Hermock in the old timeline. A high caliber Slayer from a great family.

Hermock tormented him and took great joy in it, as if it were a contest for a certain trophy.

'No wonder I tried to wanted his girl.'

This was pure revenge playing out.

Hermock's personality made it clear that he would attempt to assassinate Hex in the Red Gap. So he needed to prepare for major backstabbing.

"Magus Attack!!!"

The scream of their innate captain echoed the entire vicinity grabbing everyones attention.

Hex did not understand the idea until Mizumi squeezed a shout from her lungs, clinging to him even tighter.

All of the short-range combatants fell to the ground, leaving just Hex, Mizumi, and the other girl with a spear standing.

This gave Hex a better veiw of the frontline.

After their group yards away was the red gap swirling in the air. Certainly not the reason why they were kowtowing.

Oh yes, there were three creatures that were there. Nonetheless they were from the gap.

They wore ancient wears like that of the stone age, their skin resembled rock, having a monstrous frightening face. This were orcs.

They were holding bows and firing multiple arrows at them fast.

Fwluuup!

.

The other long ranged which was a woman streched a hand out, yellow light oozing from it. With one mighty force she blasted from her palms a violent gust of wind at the fired arrows.

The wind was only able to stop two but the third zoomed through it and planted itself into one of the short ranged.

Right in his skull. Killing him without even a gasp or scream.

'That's one way to take a bow.'

"Kayaaahhhhk!!!" Mizumi screamed at the top of her voice burying her face into Hex's warm embrace.

The terror of the sight almost sent chills up everyone's chest.

Hermock who had been behind all this while raced foward to attack next. He weilded his mouth open to do.....

Nothing?

Even the orcs were confused by this.

But soon the effects showed.

All of a sudden the body's of the orcs began to shudder violently.

"Grriuuuukkk!!!" One after the other, the orcs started to bleed from their eyes before falling face first, dead.

From the looks of it, the brains in their skulls exploded to blood.

'He still uses the same ability from the previous timeline but it's far worse!'

Hex gulped at the sight of the intimidating Hermock.

If he could harness and manipulate the waves of a person, he was truly a formidable enemy.

'How unfortunate, he wants to kill me.'
