Chapter 40 - Misunderstood Intentions

Yinuo looked down at the drunk man, rolling on the ground from the pain of his elbow getting smashed to bits. Without a hint of mercy, she then stomped down on the man's face, causing a squishy sound to echo in the now-silent alley.

*BAM!* *SQUELCH!*

A red stain appeared on the floor, spreading slowly. The two men, who were technically the drunk man's allies, were standing still, unable to comprehend what they were seeing.

"No way..."

Even the woman, who was beaten black and blue, had her only non-swelling eye open wide in disbelief, seeing the scene that just unfolded.

After all, the drunk man did shoot the gun, aiming at Yinuo's head. But before the sound of the shot could even echo, a crunching noise spread immediately, followed by a scream of pain, and then silence. It was an incomprehensible display that even she wouldn't believe if not for the fact that she saw it happen right in front of her eyes.

"D-Damn it! Mark, SHOOT!"

The other man quickly commanded, similarly pulling out his handgun.

*BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!*

Several shots were fired, but the bullets hit nothing but the walls and the ground. Yinuo was already standing behind the two before they could even start to fire.

"That looks like a powerful weapon, but it's useless if the user is too slow." She muttered in disappointment before walking toward the woman behind them. "Can you walk?"

The woman felt intimidated, seeing Yinuo approach. However, when she saw how handsome the person who saved her was, her hesitation quickly disappeared.

*Thud!* *Thud!*

Before she could reach for Yinuo's extended hand, two short thuds echoed behind her.

"Huh?"

When she peeked behind Yinuo, the two other guys, whom she thought Yinuo merely passed by, fell down with their faces planted flat on the floor. There were no apparent injuries anywhere on their bodies, however, causing her to tilt her head in confusion.

"Are those two...?"

"Ah? Don't mind them. Their hearts have already exploded, so they're definitely dead."

"...!"

A chill ran down the woman's spine, hearing the indifferent, cold-blooded words coming out of Yinuo's mouth. However, instead of being afraid, she instead blushed as she smiled, looking like she was intoxicated. "Ahh, thank you for your help. Hnnngh!"

But when she tried to stand up, a pang of pain hit her like a lightning bolt, causing her to fall forward and land against Yinuo's chest. Her foot suffered a sprain, unfortunately causing her inability to walk by herself.

"..."

Yinuo checked the time one more time before sighing resignedly. She turned around, offering her back to the woman. "I'll carry you up to the entrance; come on."

"Mmmh!"

The woman had a dangerous smile on her face, but unfortunately, Yinuo couldn't see it. If Quinlan was the one seeing it, then he'd definitely leave the woman behind, fearing for his own safety. Well, given his personality, he'd probably not cared for the woman in the first place.

"T-Then...!"

The woman leaned against Yinuo's back, crossing her arms around Yinuo's neck. After a short lean forward, she stood up and held the woman's legs tight, making sure that she wouldn't fall off.

Their short walk to the entrance of the red-light district didn't last long. Roughly a twenty-minute walk. Along the way, as if to try to talk Yinuo up, the woman introduced herself while asking for Yinuo's information. Getting irritated by her incessant questions, Yinuo relented, giving all of Quinlan's basic information that she had grasped.

"W-Well then, Quinlan. I'll definitely come to show my thanks later~!"

The woman, who introduced herself as Maybelle, waved energetically toward Yinuo's slowly fading figure. She was already left in the care of the roaming police officers and would be sent to the hospital soon after.

Earlier, she tried to invite Yinuo for dinner as a thank you but was refused, saying that she was too busy. Well, she really was busy, though, so it wasn't a lie made on the spot just to avoid her.

After turning to another alley, Yinuo started to activate her Qi, jumping up toward the roofs and moving faster than earlier. Maybelle saw a shadow zip across rooftops and, for some reason, was positive that it was Yinuo. She placed her hand against her lips, biting them as her eyes flickered from an uncontrollable desire.

"Aaahh... Quinlan..."

Maybelle was a weird one and got addicted to Yinuo's wild and dangerous side. "My bad bad boy~! I'll definitely not let you go~!"

Her soft whisper was left unheard by anyone but herself.

---

When Yinuo reached her dorm room, the time was already half past midnight. Fortunately, it didn't seem like Melody had arrived yet, so she managed to get some time to rest. While waiting, Yinuo changed her clothes to a more loose and easy-to-move one, since she would be teaching Melody how to cultivate soon.

It wasn't Yinuo's first time having a disciple, but she still felt excited, thinking about how to mold Melody into a powerful cultivator. Time passed, and as the clock ticked 1 a.m. A knock finally came on Quinlan's door.

Yinuo excitedly ran for the door, opening it up with a smile on her face.

"Melody, you're finally... here...?"

However, seeing the attire of the other party, she couldn't help but be stumped.

"G-Good evening, Quinlan. I, I made up my mind. P-Please take care of me." Melody whispered in a low voice, trying not to alert the neighboring rooms.

However, her words and attire were sending the wrong signals completely. Yinuo scanned her from head to toe, but as expected, what she was wearing wasn't fit for training. Rather, it was more for sleeping—the kind where both sides would get "sweaty" afterward.

"You..." Just as Yinuo was about to comment on her attire, a short shuffling sound could be heard from the next room.

Worried about having others see Melody's current appearance, she pulled her into the room and closed the door behind them in a hurry.

From the room to their right, a set of footsteps echoed loudly, leaving their room and seemingly heading downstairs. It seemed like they hadn't noticed Melody sneaking in, so Yinuo heaved a sigh of relief.

"Q-Quinlan... I'm... I'm ready whenever you are..."

However, Yinuo forgot to take into consideration Melody's current state when she pulled her into a tight hug. Melody, robed in a thin pink nightgown—that made her wonder how Melody braved walking around in such attire—had her soft chest pressed against Yinuo, squishing them tight like soft pancakes.

Her eyes were quivering in unease as her hand trembled in fear. Yinuo picked up on all these signals and was troubled about what to do.
