Chapter 15 - Her Wish Upon A Star (pt.1)…

Rowena urged the horse through the oncoming twilight, a sense of urgency propelling her forward. The fading sunlight cast long shadows on the road, and the first stars began to twinkle overhead in the approaching darkness. Her heart raced with the desperate need to return to the town before the living corruption claimed its victims.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, leaving a canvas of hues that merged from orange to pink and then to a deep violet, Rowena's fears intensified. Nightfall was imminent, and with it, the malevolent grip of the dark magic that threatened to tighten its hold, on her home and town, to never let go.

A tear escaped from Rowena's shiny green eyes as she imagined the faces of all of the people she grew up with, their lives hanging in the balance of her managing to save them. The weight of responsibility bore down on her, and she looked up at the emerging stars, her silent plea hanging in the evening air.

"If there is anything or anyone that can help me, then please... Please lend me your aid! I will do anything! I have no idea where to start or how to help them. I'm rushing headlong into a danger I've never faced before... So please help me!" She whispered, her voice a desperate murmur against the canvas of the gathering night.

In that moment, a shooting star streaked across the darkening sky. Rowena's emerald gaze fixed onto the streak, and, with a flicker of hope, she closed her eyes and made a wish. The fervent desire to reach her town in time, to save the lives of those she held dear, imbued her words with an intensity that resonated with the cosmos.

As her wish echoed in the quiet of the approaching night, the falling star burst into a blinding brilliance. The entire sky seemed to respond to Rowena's plea, painting the heavens with a radiant glow. A surge of energy enveloped her, and, for a brief moment, she felt a connection to something that seemed to not belong of this world.

In that fleeting instant, the bond snapped into place between the two that were destined to meet. The horse beneath her hooves slowed to a gentle trot as if guided by an unseen hand. Rowena, overcome by this intervention, felt a rush of power coursing through her veins.

As the starlight enveloped her, Rowena, held in the embrace of otherworldly energy, seemed to tumble from the horse. The world around her blurred, a kaleidoscope of colors dancing in the twilight. Her consciousness teetered on the edge between reality and the realm of light.
