Chapter 16 - A Walking Cheat

"Get up already," Nyx told Apollo as he started to walk out of the room. It was getting late after all, and he still had to check out this reward thingy to see if it was real or a scam.

Nyx was leaning more towards the latter.

As he watched the red-haired boy walking away nonchalantly, Apollo couldn't help but swear in his heart to follow this enigmatic kid for the rest of his life. He had this nagging feeling that this would be the best decision he would take.

In the distant future, Apollo would later realize this was the worst decision he ever made.

It didn't take long for the two to arrive at their dorm building.

From a distance, Nyx could already see that someone was waiting for them outside.

That person appeared to be Anna, the prefect of the yellow house.

"Where have you two been?" Anna jumped up to her feet. For the past few days, she had been noticing that Nyx and Apollo had been sneaking out of their room every night.

At first, she thought the two were doing something illegal, but there were no news of such, so she decided to confront them today.

"We were doing light training," Apollo was the one that answered.

Nyx was already walking past Anna. He had a lot of things to do already. The last thing he wanted was being berated by someone significantly younger than him.

"Hey, don't walk away from me!" Anna fumed when she saw Nyx ignoring her. "I'm only doing this because I care for all of you living in this house. Now tell me, is someone using you guys as training puppets?"

"Go and sleep, Miss Prefect. If someone was bullying us, we wouldn't be looking so neat and without any bruises," Nyx spoke and yawned as he stepped into the house.

"Ugh, what's even wrong with that kid, and why does it feel like I just talked to someone much older than me?" Anna couldn't help but complain to Apollo.

Apollo was still standing because he felt it was in his place to calm Anna down since he knew that was something the red-haired boy would never do.

"He's a bit special, you see," Apollo said. "I hope you don't get offended by his behavior."

"I'm not offended, I'm just concerned. Trust me, I know the feeling of possessing the weakest talent, and I've gone through my fair share of bullying and being looked down upon by the others."

"I thought you guys were going through the same so that I could use my connection in the students' council to make it stop, but that red-haired wouldn't even listen to me."

"We are safe for now," Apollo spoke as he stared at the door Nyx had just walked through. "And I don't think anyone can bully that guy."

[AN: Anna and Nyx sister have the same name. What does this mean?]

Inside, Nyx could see that Yiran was sleeping and snoring loudly. The red-haired boy walked into the bathroom and twisted the locks.

"Now let's see."

....

Ding!

100 experience point obtained .

You've received +20 infamy points.

You've obtained Dark Entralment Amulet.

You've Level up.

You've received two free attributes points.

....

These few days, when he wasn't training Apollo, Nyx did a little research on the system and found out that there was a help function, totally not the author trying to make life easier for himself. So it was safe to say he understood how the system worked a little.

According to what he understood, to advance to the next villain Evolution level, he was required to reach the required experience threshold. Each level-up grants two free attributes, infamy points, and potentially unlocks new features within the VES.

He also gleaned that completing the system quest would get him bountiful rewards that could be an increase in level, a super item, or even a skill.

A freaking skill!

Note: a skill was no different from an Ability, and Humans could only wield one Ability, but with the help of this godly system, Nyx could wield more than one skill.

He was literally a walking cheat.

Realizing this, Nyx even started to doubt the system's credibility again.

'T-this is just too good to be true.' He thought, still skimming through the system.

One other intriguing thing he learned again was that the VES monitors Nyx's actions, focusing on wicked deeds, chaotic choices, and villainous behavior, then rewards him.

He was basically getting paid to be evil. How convenient because evil was his nature already.

However, the more villainous acts he committed, the higher his alignment meter towards villainy would increase until he becomes a primordial evil, someone worse than Satan.

The Alignment meter was a feature in the VES that served as a gauge that measures Nyx's standing on the spectrum of morality and is influenced by the choices Nyx makes.

The villainy Level, on the other hand, indicates the degree of Nyx's Alignment towards the path of a villain. As he continues to engage in wicked deeds, his villainy level increases.

If Nyx's villainy level is high enough, the system would then tailor quests and rewards based on his Alignment, thus unlocking darker and more potent abilities, cursed super items, and lastly much darker quests.

Simply put, the higher Nyx's villainy level, the darker features the VES would unlock.

The last feature was infamy points.

Infamy points served as a currency in VES and could be earned by successfully completing quests, defeating heroes, and engaging in villainous activities. These points serve as a currency within the VES.

Also, they could be used to unlock new abilities and upgrade existing ones.

This was the end of Nyx's information on the system. As for the [Inventory] and [Villian Black Market Shop] tab, these features were locked and could only be accessed when he reached Higher Evolution.

Done with the information, the moment of truth arrived as Nyx decided to allocate his free attribute points.

Without thinking too much, Nyx placed all two stats into his [Attack Power], bringing it to 22, and instantly Nyx could really feel an increase in his strength. Thanks to his past experiences, it was very easy for him to know when he received a boost in power.

"This is really not a scam." Nyx thought with trembling hands, tears were almost falling out of his eyes when he realized that this time around he might be able to save his sister and finally bring an end to her 100-year torture.

Armed with the Villain Evolution System, Nyx was now bound to become even more powerful than his previous self.

Later that night when everyone was asleep, Nyx loomed before a sleeping Yiran with a devious smile on his face.

"Villainous deed, huh?" He said. "Let's put this into practice."
