'Fighting with the pressure of the suit could make facing these beasts a bit tougher, and besides, it's not giving me any more stats so I have to take it off,' Nyx noted as he stared at the beasts who were making furious growls from the other side. Their ravenous look suggested that they couldn't wait to tear these humans into shreds.
"With the help of me and my team, we were able to bring in some live beasts from the lost lands," Boris started to explain. "All the beasts in there are E rank, with a few D's."
"If it's like the super item ranking, then I'm guessing the E and D should be relatively weak?" Since there were no beasts back in his days, the red-haired boy was still oblivious to some things.
"Yes, so it would be easy for you to fight them. Usually, battling E to D ranked monsters should be easy for tier 5 Superhumans, but I do wonder which tier you might be?" The man put his hands on his chin with a thinking expression on his face.
"Would you also like to take a Tier test?" He said after a moment. "Bob has already stepped into tier four. From your display, I figure you might be tier 5 or even higher."
"No, that's fine," Nyx hurriedly said. Unlike superhumans, he didn't have energy cells, the energy that was exclusive only to Superhumans. If Boris were to discover that he was a dud, it would raise lots of questions about his impressive display. To avoid all these questions, he would rather leave things as they were.
As for Momo, he still had the feeling that Nyx was trying to hide his ability for reasons unknown, but he figured that it was because the red-haired boy's ability was his trump card, and he wanted to be underestimated so that he could catch his opponents off guard.
A few minutes later, Nyx stepped into the other side, a dry atmosphere with rocky ground. The harsh wind hit Nyx, ruffling his red hair.
'It just felt as if I've stepped into a different world.' Nyx thought.
Growl! Growl!
Attracted by his scent, all the beasts turned towards the red-haired boy, a bloodthirsty glint in their eyes as they started to approach, analyzing their prey. Finally, after being starved for days, they would have their meal!
The first group of creatures that appeared was an unsightly dog that towered over Nyx's 5'7 height. Unlike the mundane dogs Nyx was used to, these creatures were mutated with tough molten skin, and their bloodshot eyes gleamed with hunger.
"'Humans, truly unfortunate creatures,' Nyx couldn't help but think as he saw the creatures. 'Not only do you guys have to deal with villains, now even these monsters.'"
Coming out of his thoughts, Nyx adopted a fighting stance.
Just then, with a loud roar, the first dog lunged at Nyx at surprising speed, saliva flying from its mouth. Following behind were the rest of the dogs, about five in total, and they looked extremely bloodthirsty. They were even fighting among themselves to take the first bite, dumb not to realize that all of them would have their fill if they were to cooperate together.
The first dog that was lucky to reach Nyx snapped its jaws viciously, ready to tear flesh.
Nyx sidestepped the attack with calculated footsteps, avoiding the dog's razor-sharp teeth, then countered with a swift punch to its flank.
Bam!
The rib of the dog caved in, and the sound of something being crushed resonated through the area. As for the dog, it landed not too far away, yelping in pain and making strange noises. After a while, the beast stopped making noise, and a puddle of black blood started to come out from its body.
….
Ding!
You've slain an E rank Mutated dog!
You've received plus ten experience points.
….
Just as he had predicted, Nyx could actually increase his experience points by killing something. As long as that thing was a living thing, then it would grant him experience points!
The Villain Evolution System was truly godsent!
But there was no time to think. More beasts were rushing at him. Nyx's hands moved on their own, delivering a crushing blow, knocking the jaw of one beast, and teeth and spittle flew everywhere. He then seemingly vanished in front of the creature, making the creature confused.
The next thing the creature saw was a shadow descending from above!
That shadow was Nyx.
Too slow to react, the head of that unfortunate beast exploded like a watermelon as Nyx's foot came down on it like a heavenly hammer carrying out judgment.
Inside the gym, Boris was wide-eyed when he saw Nyx disappear. "Did he just teleport? Is that his ability?"
Momo, who had seen Nyx perform this move, said, "It's a martial technique, I suppose."
"Yes, now that you say it, I didn't sense him use his energy cells just now." With more thought, Boris knew that what Momo said was true because experienced superhumans could sense when someone used an ability because of the lingering aura of the energy cells.
"But what martial art is this that can even deceive my eyes?" Boris had never seen any skill like this. He knew a lot of heroes who specialized in martial art, but even they couldn't perform something like this. And he was even able to follow those veteran movements, but this boy managed to catch him off guard like this.
As a tier 2 existence, Boris was well aware that a single second in battle was very dangerous. If used wisely, that second could turn the tide of any fight.
'If I were to fight him and he used that technique, things won't look good. Even though I'm confident in beating him without breaking a sweat, he could still use that second to cause me real damage,' Boris thought.
"I had the same reaction as you," Momo spoke when he saw the curious analytical look in Boris's eyes, as he added, "Even had this nagging feeling that there's still more this boy is yet to show us."
Regaining his footing on the ground, Nyx didn't even catch a breather as the beasts were upon him again. The red-haired boy sent a flurry of attacks into the air, fending off the beasts. He was landing strategic strikes on their joints, causing them to howl in pain. Slowly, the creatures were beginning to fall one after the other.
Just like that, Nyx advanced further into the wide areas and hunted more creatures. The creatures in the wild were reducing at a frightening pace, and some beasts were now even running from the demon in human form.
Soon, Nyx killed all the beasts in there, making Boris smile bitterly because now he would need to bring in more creatures.
As for Nyx though, he was all smiles because he was able to level up, and not only that, there was a new screen flickering on his retina.
