The strength-calculating machine had been around for a long time. It was a machine that calculated the amount of strength one possesses. The machine was ranked from level 1 to level 3; level 1 represented those whose strengths were below 100, while Level 2 was for individuals with strength below 200, and Level 3 represented those with strengths exceeding 200.
The machine students were using was classified as a level 1 machine. The reason for this was because most students in the academy, up to the fourth years, were below 100 strength.
It was the reason Mr. Danny was wide-eyed as he watched the broken machine that was still sizzling with electric sparks. Before he could destroy this machine with an inch punch like this, the instructor knew that Asher Vancouver's strength had long exceeded the hundredth mark.
'Truly befitting of the no1 clan.' This was the collective thought of the students as they watched the broken machine.
"He's on a whole different level even with the other young masters?"
"What's even more shocking is his age. I heard he's just 15 and is already this strong! With this much strength, it won't be surprising if Asher becomes the next patriarch of the Vancouver clan."
"Now I know why they are recommendation students! If these monsters had been at the entrance exam…most of us wouldn't even be here."
While speculation was going around, Asher Vancouver walked back to his spot, Nyx's eyes following him all throughout.
Just like that, class ended and Mr. Danny went out to report what had happened. Meanwhile, news about what Asher had done quickly spread all around the academy. One other piece of news that spread was the red-haired impressive score.
Lately, Nyx was trending a lot even without his knowledge, and at this point, he was well-known even by some fourth years. The fact that he even scored higher than both Violet and Ikor only made people more curious about him.
Currently, Nyx was drawing several looks from students on his way to the administrative building to meet up with Momo so that he could return the billion-dollar pod that'd aided him facing off against Ikor.
'I wish I could get something like this too. Without this, Ikor would have gotten me.' Nyx thought, memories of his struggle with Ikor resurfacing in his mind.
'Although those elite kids have impressive physical strength, the biggest threat is still Ikor Daze. His ability is just too broken.'
Nyx even had lingering feelings that if Ikor were to use his ability on Asher Vancouver, the blond kid would find himself in a dire situation that could even cost him his life.
In his thoughts, Nyx wandered into the administrative building that was bustling with students. He walked up to the receptionist, a beautiful woman with a professional aura about her.
"Hello, miss. I have an appointment with Mr. Momo Stein. Can you inform him that I'm here?" Nyx said.
The receptionist made a call to someone, Nyx assumed was Momo. A few seconds later, she got up and gestured for Nyx to follow her.
Up through a flight of stairs later, Nyx and the receptionist arrived before a white door.
"You'll wait here for some time. Mr. Momo is currently in a meeting with someone else. For the meantime, you can sit on the waiting bench." Having said that, the receptionist turned to go back to what she was doing, and Nyx was already sitting down.
However, she suddenly stopped in her tracks and turned around facing Nyx, leaving the red-haired boy a bit confused.
'Did she forget something?'
"Hey, you're Nyx right?" She asked, her tone more free and relaxed.
"Yeah, any problem?" Nyx said with a raised brow.
"You're the hope of all us duds, so don't mess up, show these kids that even without powers, we're not entirely useless." She displayed a light smile and walked off.
"You guys are useless through and through." Nyx muttered to himself after the receptionist had gone. "And I'm no one's hope, everything I'm doing is just for me and Anna."
Nyx didn't like to live in delusion. He'd rather accept life the way it is. And the way it was, duds were useless in this world filled with superhumans and monsters that could tear you apart any moment.
As for himself, Nyx didn't consider himself as a dud; after all, he was in possession of a godly System with unlimited potential.
And to reap the benefits of this system, all he had to do was just continue his evil lifestyle.
'Convenient and stress-free.'
Just then, a low creak was heard as the door to the office finally opened, and walking through the door was a short, bald-headed boy. Looking at that boy, Nyx felt a strange aura, a thick murky red aura surrounding him. What was even stranger about this boy was the red eye on his forehead.
Nyx didn't know if his eyes were playing tricks on him; he thought he saw the red eye emanate an eerie red light immediately the boy saw him.
'Strange.' Nyx thought as the boy brushed shoulders with him. The instincts he had honed over the years were screaming that this boy was nothing but ordinary.
'This Momo, didn't he say he was looking for talents for his agency? Did he scout that boy?' Nyx thought as he walked in. 'If he scouted that boy, then I'm thinking he must be very talented.'
Stepping into the lavishly decorated grey office that belonged to a CEO of some multimillion-dollar company, the inspiring sight of Momo sitting elegantly on a luxurious chair greeted Nyx's view.
"I heard you were looking for me?" Momo said immediately the red-haired boy stepped in. "Take a seat."
"Yes, I wanted to return this." Nyx said as he put his hand into his pocket to bring out the ear pod; however, his expression soon changed.
'Shit! Why can't I find it?' His eyes widened in horror.
Meanwhile, outside the administrative office, the bald-headed boy with the red eye on his forehead was holding a little box, a light smirk on his face.
'I wonder how much this would cost?' He thought.
