"I'm neither a normal participant nor an impostor…"
Lucian's eyes shot wide open as he uttered those words. He had no idea what that meant yet. But it certainly seemed to be a good thing for him.
Those words even reassured him.
"Then, can we go join the rest of them? Just tell us about your role later. I'm sure it's nothing too bad."
Hearing those words, Alex realized they had been in this room for too long. Everyone would suspect them at the moment since they were the only ones who hadn't come to help earlier.
Alex made his sword disappear, and he let both Ava and Lucian go. Now that he knew they were impostors… a smile formed on his face. It was weird… it was almost like he was… happy.
However, he had no time for that as they opened their map and ran toward the Motor Area. They needed to help the others as fast as possible and convince them that they were good people. Lucian knew that such a thing would be a complicated task, but he still went ahead and did it.
They ran and ran through the gigantic hallways of the spaceship. Luckily for them, the spaceship wasn't that big, which made it possible to reach the rest of the participants in less than thirty seconds.
Lucian glanced at the timer as they crossed the sliding doors to the Spaceship Motor Area. He wanted to know when he had to convince everyone that they weren't impostors or anything of the sort. He knew it wouldn't be simple to convince the others, and he had no idea how to start…but he would try his best.
Then, Lucian glanced at the huge Motor that was inside the room. It looked like a motor that you would usually see in a car except that it was ten times as big, even that might be an understatement… it was probably more like a hundred times bigger.
It was clear that some parts were still broken, but Lucian was amazed that they had managed to fix something on that motor. He wasn't sure how since he doubted anyone knew of such a thing, but it certainly was interesting.
"Oh, looks who's here!"
Lucian didn't even need to glance at the person who had spoken to know who it was. It was that son of a bitch Darius, the one who had been hired to kill them.
'Well, unlucky for him, I think Ava and I are the only impostors here. As for Alex, who knows what role he has… though it probably is something in our favor. Or else… well, he would have killed us on the spot.'
Everyone in the room heard Darius's voice, and they all turned to look at them arriving late and… without much surprise, they all looked as if they wanted to kill them for showing up late.
'Well, I guess it's time to act as sorry as possible…'
Lucian had this thought and immediately went into his manipulation mode.
"Why did you arrive so late? Were you trying to sabotage us by any chance?"
Darius was obviously trying his best to make everyone eliminate Alex, Ava, and Lucian. However, it was weird… Lucian was convinced that he had been hired to kill them. So, why was he trying to eliminate them instead?
'Did he realize Alex's strength earlier…' Lucian thought. 'But, that doesn't make sense… they didn't even touch one another.'
"Sorry for being late. Is there anything we can do for you guys?"
Everyone couldn't believe what they had just asked. Couldn't he see them working tirelessly trying to fix this damn motor? It should be obvious enough they needed help.
Lucian glanced over the motor, and there was a little percentage over it. This probably indicates how much progress they had made on it.
'85%... Well, not bad. Should be completed soon enough.'
Lucian also realized that as he immediately went to work. Ava joined in, but Alex didn't.
'Again doing his best to get himself eliminated…'
Lucian couldn't help himself but curse him in his mind. Alex was the one who had caused him the most trouble ever since he had met him. However, he did have his strength, which compensated for the other problems like his personality and actions, which were most of the time stupid.
"So, why did you arrive late?" Darius repeated as he kept watching them work on the motor.
Lucian knew that whatever reason he gave wouldn't be good enough to convince the others.
"Why aren't you helping?"
Lucian tried to ask another question instead of answering. It was a clear attempt at changing the subject, and he hoped it would work.
"That…I…uh"
Lucian smiled. Those sorts of hesitations were exactly what he needed to convince the others that they weren't impostors, but he was.
'The best thing, though… would be making him so enraged that he would try attacking someone.'
If such a thing were to happen, then Darius would be done for, and he would be either dead or killed by the next vote. It would be one of those two options.
And there was one person who knew how to piss off others very well. His name… Alex. If someone could do it… It was indeed him. He also hadn't joined in, meaning that he could totally focus on pissing Darius off.
'Though, the small problem is… will he even think about it?'
"I…don't know how to fix this thing."
However, as soon as he said that, everyone who was working tirelessly to fix it stared at him.
"You can't see the indications on the motor?" Someone said.
'Indications? So, the system really is helping them… Though, I can't see them… probably because I'm an impostor.'
Darius shut his mouth for a few seconds, unsure what to do next. He glanced at the timer until the next vote, and it was written there were one minute and thirty seconds left. He needed to make a move before the end of those one minute and thirty seconds.
'Is it time to kill those three… or should I wait?' Darius thought.
This had been his plan all along. He had simply been waiting for the right opportunity. From his understanding, those who would get kicked out from the trial wouldn't die. So, as long as he could kill the three he was hired for… he didn't care about getting kicked out. He could always attempt to complete this trial later.
"Should I be able to see those indications?" Darius answered the man who had spoken up.
He wouldn't reveal his true nature immediately, but if he were to get caught... He would do it in an instant.
"You can't see them?"
This time, it wasn't someone fixing the motor who spoke up. It was Alex, and he seemed determined to fuck him over with that reply of his.
"I can see them. Can you guys see them?" Alex asked all those working on the motor.
All of them replied in unison, "Yes, we can."
Even Lucian and Ava did since everyone else had done so.
Darius realized he was in trouble. However, he didn't panic… he flashed a smile similar to the one he had shown back in the meeting room… and a dark red aura started to get released from his body.
"Kekeke, and why should I care about not seeing them?"
