Becoming a Necromancer
"That is quite smart", David couldn't help but agree.
"You won't do anything?" he looked at Rowe, who was tinkering with the crown and the soul stone.
Rowe looked up towards David and then glanced at Cedric. "Give the kid some leeway."
"At least one year!" David shouted in a hurry, and Cedric grinned. "Given"
"Did I ask for too little?" David thought to himself.
"I won't come directly for you, but if any of my students do, then I can stop them", Cedric said.
"You cheeky old man", David grumbled, glaring at Cedric.
While the two were arguing with each other, Rowe was busy with the crown and the soul stone. He carved a hole in the crown before carefully fitting a soul stone. Suddenly, a bright light erupted from the crown as David and Cedric started paying attention.
"Here", Rowe muttered with a grin as he handed the new item to David, who carefully held it in his hands.
==========

Durability: Infinity
Description: Made from the Bones of the Skeleton King and a Soul stone. It is believed to be the crown for the true ruler of Life and Death.
==========
"So Cool!" David exclaimed as he looked at the item. "He used two Rare items and turned them into Legendary? Old man, you are pretty good". David glanced to his side and noticed that even Cedric was curious about the artefact.
"But what about the Death energy? James said that all your previous students couldn't achieve it."
"Well, that's true. Unfortunately, I was unable to reach a level where I could transfer my Death energy to my student, and it was nigh impossible for someone to awaken Death energy on their own. But well, you- "Rowe stopped midway.
"You are surrounded by it", Cedric completed. "It might be because you are a player, but even we don't know why."
"Maybe you're just lucky", Rowe said.
Suddenly, Seraphiel's words started to ring in his mind, " You were just lucky, or maybe this was fate". At that moment, David thought about the [Second Life] given to him. "Doesn't it mean I died and was revived again in the past? It's similar to how Lichs attain it". David knew that he couldn't talk about Second Life in the open, so he acted like he was clueless as well.
"So, I can be a Necromancer then?" He asked the two old men sitting in front of him.
"Yeah, you just need to wear this crown. But the process will be painful, as the crown will have to change your soul, so you can utilise Necromancy to its full extent.", Rowe said.
"how bad will the pain be?" David asked.
"Brat, it will hurt like shit. But trust me, the powers of the Necromancer are worth it", Cedric spoke up.
After David had heard about the True Necromancer and how these influential people were fighting for her legacy, he understood that this class would be nothing like what he had seen before.
"I will go ahead with it", David calmly said as he picked up and gently put the crown on his head. The crown started to melt when it touched his forehead, slowly getting absorbed into his body.
"AARGH!" he shouted as he writhed in pain, feeling that someone had attacked his internal organs with a million needles.
Meanwhile, Cedric and Rowe quietly drank tea from a cup, immune to David's shouts and cries.
David could feel every inch of the melted crown moving in his body, slowly absorbing into every nook and cranny of his bones and organs, except the soul stone floating idly near the heart.
Suddenly, the soul stone broke into a million pieces as David shrieked out in pain. He had forgotten one piece of crucial information. Unlike other players, his body had already synchronised with his in-game avatar. This meant that David's body was currently experiencing all this pain in real life as well.
[ Your body is experiencing extreme pain ]
[ Your body has suffered a shock ]
[ Danger detected. Killswitch activated ]
[ VR Machine will be forcefully ejected in 60 seconds ]
[ Say STOP to prevent the autokill ]
"STOP, STOP!" David shouted, knowing that he would lose the quest if he exited now. He felt that his entire existence was being erased and overwritten with something else. A guttural shriek tore through the air as David grappled with the excruciating pain.
A few moments later, David was lying on the ground, taking deep breaths. "I did it!". He could feel that his entire body was lighter and stronger than before. He also had a weird sensation. "It's like there is empty space inside me", he muttered.

"hah! Looks like the procedure succeeded!" Rowe stood up with excitement. "That must be your soul sea. You can store your summons inside that.
"Summons?" David asked.
"Oh, I never told you about the perks of being a Necromancer", Rowe facepalmed. "It's quite weird how ya went through all this without knowing what a Necromancer would do!"
"Well, sire, I believed in your wisdom and ability to motivate others", David bowed with a smile.
"Okay, okay, enough of the bootlicking", Rowe coughed. Even Cedric could tell that Rowe liked the praises.
"So, I will be heading out", Cedric said as he stood up." Others will come after you and, soon, after the child. "
"Don't worry about us. Nothing that I can't crush with my staff", David smiled.
Cedric nodded at Rowe before disappearing into the shadows.
"Did you look at that! That was so cool! "David exclaimed.
"Uhm uhm", Rowe coughed, "There are a lot of cool parts of being a Necromancer."
