Chapter 63 - Asshur's Fate

"Well, I had been living my life of solitude in the mountains when The Almighty approached me again to do His bidding. Of course, I couldn't disagree, so I followed His decree. I was tasked to babysit some people, and to keep them away from harm. The only reason I see that can prove harmful to them is you, so I figured that if I kill, you, I can just go ahead and be alone once more."

Hearing his intentions, Asshur shuddered and shouted, "Save me, Anunnaki!"

The entire floor soon became active as hundreds of ghost figures came out from hiding and darted towards him. Noah straightened his body, cracked his old and tired bones, before sneering, "Please have mercy on the old man! Kekeke!"

Soon, an explosive battle ensued. The ghastly Anunnaki flew and surrounded Noah, attacking him with powerful blasts of magic, while the old man skillfully and dexterously avoided all that was sent flying towards him. The entire floor shook as the attacks, although suppressed, impacted the walls and destroying quite a lot of the structure.

No fear could be seen visible from Old Noah's face, only thrill and excitement. He cackled as no attacks even got near him. "Is that all you got? You can't even hurt an old man! Kyakakakaka!" He laughed, amused at their attempts. An hour would almost pass, yet not even a single sweat could be seen dripping from him.

"What are you doing?! Kill him!" Asshur yelled in a panic. "Is that appropriate? Shouldn't you just backstab me instead? You literally hurt my feelings." Noah pouted. Realizing what he was doing, he stopped avoiding and shook his head, "What in tarnation am I doing? This isn't like me. Damn those brats, influencing me even while I'm far from them."

He suddenly turned serious, startling the ghastly beings and Asshur. When Asshur realized that Noah was indeed not moving, he shouted at the Anunnaki, "It's your chance! Finish him!"

As he said that, everyone simultaneously darted towards him. "Foolish." That was the last thing they heard as they were all blasted away by the energy that suddenly enveloped him. What remained of the floor was the ruined walls and broken tiles that were damaged by the shockwave. Even the floor below began to have some cracks.

Noah, not minding the ashen-faced Asshur standing like an unmoving sculpture, looked around and discovered something. The construction of the tower was beyond excellent, something that can only be derived through countless experiments and trials and errors. Still, what makes him notice it was because the materials that were used were tampered. Something was mixed before it was put in place. In fact, even the foundation itself has something peculiar added to it.

An energy that does not belong to this world. An energy that the inhabitants of this world shouldn't have been able to wield; Cosmic Energy.

"Hmm…" Noah narrowed his eyes. The first time he encountered such magic was in the outskirts of Shinar a couple of days after the fall of Nimrod. He still remembered the dread he felt that day as the fabrics of reality warped. He saw a woman cloaked with purplish dress that was adorned with stars, real yet miniature stars. He immediately hid in fear that she might spot him, and fortunately, she did not.

After that, he traveled to the East and found a place to hide in solitude, away from affairs of his old life. As fate would have it, here he was, facing something that he became terrified of once again. 'What did I do wrong to deserve this?' He thought, shaking his head in dismay.

The power of Space is something that he determined was not meant for humanity to utilize because of the sheer magnitude of requirements that a person would theoretically need to even grasp it. He did not even entertain any possibilities that would prove otherwise.

'Only the truest of divinities can wield such power.' He thought to himself.

"I-Impossible…It cannot be!" At the side, Asshur's horrified voice interrupted his train of thought. Noah looked at the man and said, "You have already made Him angry. Cooperating with demons, assaulting His angels, corrupting His people? Tsk. Sooner or later, this tower you so painstakingly built would surely fall because of His wrath."

After saying that, Noah turned around and left. "Graaghh!" In hopes of succeeding, Asshur charged at him as a last attempt to kill the threat to his rule. Of course, Noah wasn't one to fall for it.

He quickly turned around, extended his index finger at Asshur's head, and sent a sharp, beam of light flying straight at his forehead.

Asshur could not speak anymore as he dropped down and died. His body gradually disintegrated into dust, returning to his origin; the dusts of the Nephilim. This was the end of the arrogant king's tale. Two men who ruled, their lives ending miserably, all because of their arrogance towards the people and the heavens.

Sensing something, Noah looked up in the skies and shouted, "I have done my mission! I can return to my old life, right?" After saying that, Noah went and leaved the tower unnoticed, just like how he entered. In the skies, thousands upon thousands of angels flew down and placed their palms on the tower.

Gruung! The tower shook, startling everyone. In a panic, everyone began rushing out of the tower. Some people thought that it was just lightning hitting the tower, which made them ignore the quaking. It would prove later on to be the worst idea they would make in their lifetime.

Thirty minutes in, the ground outside started to shake as well. Cracks began to appear surrounding the tower, which sent fear into the minds of the people. Screaming, they frantically rushed far from the tower, even exiting the city entirely. Some of those who turned their backs from God even started praying once more, in hopes that their properties inside the city were safe. Oddly, they felt that something seemed empty.
