Chapter 45 - The Covenant

The demons, as if annoyed by the sound, screamed and covered their goblin-like ears, glaring at the heavens. "No one needs the mercy of thy wretched God!" One of the demons mocked, which made the demons hurl other insulting remarks.

Soon, the skies parted, revealing a heavenly realm that was unknown to any mortals prior to this very event. From that realm, three celestial beings descended into the earthly realm, akin to beacons of light like the stars in the night sky. The winds in the four corners of the world spun crazily with pleasure, the trees swayed in delight, the entire world cheered, welcoming their presence.

In the middle, leading the other two was someone that is familiar to Noah; A man of pure divine light which has 72 wings behind him, still holding the scroll and the brush. On his left was a two-winged man giving off a powerful and righteous aura, clad in golden armor with a longsword in his hand. Lastly, the being on the right was a benevolent-looking man, exuding God's merciful aura that comforts anyone who laid their eyes at him. Different from the man on the left, he was holding a wooden staff, something that is seemingly harmless, which was odd considering that they would be facing off against demons.

Together, the three celestials proclaimed, "All of you who serves goodness within your heart shall live fruitfully for years to come. You shall be free from the constraints of thirst and hunger. You are delivered from sins and no harm shall stand in your way. Those who have died in the name of God shall rise up together in the ranks of the angels to enjoy his fruitful blessings eternally in His Divine Kingdom in Heaven. All of you who has the blood of the demons coursing through your veins, succumbing to the evil in your mind, shall be flayed and tortured, burned for years to come, you who step on dreams of peace and harmony within God's world. This is the Covenant of The Great and Almighty God, the absolute covenant for all men on Earth."

As they were saying that, the heavenly circle gradually expanded and soon encompassed the entirety of Earth. Now, everyone can see clearly what was beyond the realm. Nine levels of circles made from golden clouds surrounded a huge throne that shines with eternal light. On the circles were an unsurpassable number of beings made entirely from divine light, standing and looking down upon the demons on the world. They were singing different praises, but still manages to sing harmonically with one another.

While they were singing, another group of divine beings descended into the world, their figures were revealed to those below. It was the beings that was behind the man that gave God's command unto Noah, but it wasn't just ten four-winged beings. Instead, billions of white armored celestial creations were now flying down into their formations.

"Shriek!" Seeing them, the demons started to become livid, wrathfully baring their demonic fangs at the angels above. The great demons growled and spat at the skies.

From the scalding magma within the volcanoes that erupted, demons continuously poured out, as if trying to match Heaven's numbers. Still, it seemed that they wouldn't even be given time to do so as battalions after battalions of angels, led by the angel with the longsword, began swooping down on the demons, finally beginning the battle between Heaven and Earth.

Noah, who was the only one that stayed on the deck of the Ark, was the only one to witness the devastation that was happening outside. The only thing he could think of doing was praying, praying to their God to continue protecting them.

The battle lasted for days and nights, with the people inside the Ark shaking and fearing for their lives. Suddenly, from the ground, spots of soil all over the world started to lose life and decay, as if life started to be sucked dry from them. Soon, not just the soil's nutrients, but even the soil itself started to break down, opening sinkholes that spans hundreds of meters. Deep within those holes was a chilling darkness, with an archaic air spreading throughout its surroundings.

When the angels saw those holes, they immediately pulled up and retreated to the skies, as if knowing the horrors that hid within those "holes". To Noah's surprise, the Ark also began to move, flying high above the ground, up above a mountain. Might be because of their meager age, the demons, ignorant as they are, laughed and mocked the angels that retreated. It was the case until…

"Eekkk!" Screams of pain and terror started to spread within the demons' ranks as they saw their comrades visibly wilt and dry up like corpses. As demons, they naturally have a greater lifespan than humanity. As such, even before the age of the Eldritch Apocalypse, it is rare to see a demon die of old age. But what they were seeing now made it seem that the demons have it much worse than the humans.

One by one, the demons fell as their sickly and wrinkly bodies lost strength to even exist, some even had already turned into ashes without being burned.

As this was happening, the angels that had retreated from the sky began chanting, "The Almighty grants life, The Great God, Lord Embodiment of Life and Creation, bless thy lands!" As they said this, from their hands, great storms began to manifest, raining down upon the lands of the Earth.

Creation and Destruction, Flourish and Decay, Life and Death. These were the states that all existence, animate or inanimate, faced in an alternating manner. As all was destroyed, all was rebuilt, and as all were rebuilt, all were destroyed.

The lands of the Earth were forged, not in fire, but in the two states of existence.

Despite these, the state of the demons were worsened as the two existence all had the power to annihilate them.

Looking below, Noah, as powerful as he might think himself to be compared to those of his generation, couldn't even begin to comprehend as to what was happening to the vile creatures. Despite that, he was thankful that those ruffians are already dying.
