Chapter 1 - The King Is Reborn!

In the world of the system, where the system had taken over after the gods and demons had destroyed each other, the lion king was reborn on the continent known as Pangea.

*Cough Cough*

Dylan woke up confused and rather thirsty. He looked around here and there, soon finding out he was in a jungle. What had happened? Just one moment ago, he was being held at gunpoint by his. By his friend? And the next... Well... He didn't remember. It wasn't even a blur; it was just... empty.

As he was in the middle of thinking such things, a voice appeared out of nowhere, startling him a bit. "Hello user! Welcome to the world of the system. Due to a strange occurrence, you have been reincarnated into a world full of magic on the continent of Pangea. Due to this strange occurrence, you have been given a special leveling system different from all others in this reality. It is called the lion-king system. You are the king of the jungle—ferocious yet kind, deadly yet merciful. May your journey be a great one."

Seeing this, Dylan's eyes opened wide with surprise. He had been reincarnated after being killed by his friend. So many questions entered his mind at once, but he dismissed all of them. As 'god' had given him another chance, he'd take it. It didn't matter why; well, maybe he'd try to find it out one day, but for now, survival was the only important thing.

He had read many mangas and manwhas in his time to know what a system was, so he thought of the words 'System Interface, Interface, and Information. Soon, a pop-up window was in front of him, and he saw all of his information.

Dylan looks at the menu with peculiarity. He hums in thought as he has countless questions, but he puts them to rest for now and tries to figure out the things he has at hand. "So I'm guessing my ability is to call for animals in my vicinity, but... there's a counter, or, I guess, a flaw, that comes with the ability. So, the animals won't innately listen to me, so I have to persuade them to do as I say. Hmm, it might be tough, but not impossible. Okay, I can work with this."

Dylan sees that he also has a quest tab he can open, so he thinks of opening it in his mind by saying to himself, 'open quest tab, open quests menu, open quests.' That kind of stuff, and after a second or two, the quests tab opens.

[Quests]

1. The King's Path Start your own little civilization with people and animals who will live in harmony. [Make sure to implement rules and regulations so that it's a proper village and slowly expand.]

2. The Fight of a Lifetime [Defeat another village with the help of your army of animals, humans, and whatever species decides to work under you, take over their land, and make their lives better.]

3. Bonding with a King: Make a great bond with your village people; make sure they trust you and follow you no matter what. Be the best king you can be.

Seeing this, Dylan grinned at the system. He got a second chance to not only live but also become a king. He was made for this; finally, he could live a life without being under anyone, as he'd be at the top. The very top. Finally, no more being weak.

He had died only because he was weak. He had no strength; he couldn't even beat a fly. He was pathetic and miserable. The only thing he was ever good at was smooth-talking people, and now, oh boy, smooth-talking was his job. He had smooth-talked his way to one of the top positions of his previous life. How hard could it be in this life? 'Game on system' Dylan's grin grew wider as he looked at his quests.

Dylan, in a thoughtful look, decided to use his ability to find the perfect animals to be generals. After all, these animals were going to be one of the biggest residents of his kingdom and maybe even a part of the army, he thought with a grin, already thinking about the plans he had for the future of his kingdom. Of course, he still needed to plan a lot, but he still needed to start somewhere.

He uses his ability to summon animals by thinking of it, and instantly, a sound wave is produced by his mouth, which is only hearable to the animal ear. Suddenly, the surrounding area goes silent for a solid 10 seconds. It was as if the forest itself was answering. Soon, he could hear the footsteps of many different animals getting closer. He saw many hybrid animals of the normal animals he saw in his world, like a tiger, a zebra, or a tigra. And, Boar + Spider or Sboar.

The animals ran as if their lives depended on it and then came to a halt right in front of Dylan. Dylan looks at the animals, and the animals look at Dylan. They were both confused, and not at the same time, as if it was instinct that drove them here. They look at Dylan with curiosity, waiting for him to speak. In patience, they watch as the tiny little human with a royal scent looks at them.

'What a peculiar human..' all of the animals thought. As Dylan finished looking at all the strange animals in the horde, he finally put on a warm smile for all of them and said, "Hello friends, I don't know if you all will believe me or understand me at all, but... I am from another world. Not the same as yours, and I have been reincarnated into this world, and I'm just going to go straight to the point, as there's no point in wasting time.

"I want to start a kingdom, not an empire. an empire that will be so great that the next 100 generations will remember and cherish it. I promise to give you a place in it as one of the big leaguers if you choose to join me now. If you join later, you won't be a part of the bigger leagues. So, those who'd like to join me. Please stay, and for those who don't, you can go back to whatever you were originally doing."

A short story about the animals of this land was that they could also use magic like humans, some even better than humans; of course Dylan didn't know that at the time. He was just trying to see who was the one who had nothing left and would do anything to survive in this world and get to the top. Those people would be the ones he'd need, as they'd be the ones he'd need help from to get his kingdom to the top later.

Thinking it through, most of the animals had no interest in human affairs. They didn't care about some kingdom; they just wanted to live a normal life and hunt, eat, and feed their families. Why risk your life to get food on the table when it was the same thing you were doing every day without the risk of death? While most of the animals left. Four very special specimens were left. These were the animals he was searching for—the ones with desires to be at the top of the food chain.

The ones who'd be ready for everything. And also the people he'd need to get closest to the most. In the end, when every animal left, only an ox, a bear, a boar, and a deer were left. They were similar to the Earth's ones but somehow a little different. All of them let out a strange aura. They were enveloped in something ominous.

Nonetheless, he didn't have time to think about such things. He said to them with a warm smile, "So, you all have decided to be a part of something great. I warn you, though, that your lives will be in danger after a certain point. If you are not the kind of person to handle psychological warfare or warfare in general, I'd advise you to leave." As none of them leave, he nods his head in delight

The atmosphere around them was truly something strange. It was like the five of them understood each other without even speaking. All four of the animals had scars on their bodies, as though they had fought countless battles throughout the years. Perfect for Dylan's plans.

"We are going to need a base of operations, a place from where we build connections and people to live in our kingdom." The wise-looking bear, understanding what he means, replies in bear tongue, which somehow Dylan understands: "We can start from Jade City. It is nearby, and from my connections, I heard it is one of the biggest cities in the world, or at least in Pangea."

Dylan hums in agreement with the bear. A place like that would be perfect, as many influential people would be living there, and since it was in a jungle, it would be a trade-rooted city as there's an abundance of resources in the jungle. "Alright, we will start from there. For the time being, all of you go back to your normal lives; after 3 months, I'll be back with either success or we will start anew." Dylan says they are ending their small meeting between five different species of animals.

The bear, who called himself Raphial, showed him the path to the city. Soon, they were near a bridge crossing over the Danga River. Raphial said that the city was on that side of the bridge, which was protected by magic barriers so that it was only visible up close so that the animals didn't attack. The animals of this world were more vicious than the ones back in his reality.

He bid fair to Raphial and started walking to the other side of the bridge. Soon, he saw the magnificent Jade City. His eyes were sparkling with amazement and jealousy. He wanted a kingdom like this of his own, and he would make it a reality. especially when it's literally his main objective.

He entered the city premises and was greeted by guards as he looked in awe at the amazing architecture. Whoever made these planned for them to survive decades upon decades. He needs someone like that as well. Oh well, not wasting anytime, he starts walking around, taking in his surroundings, and already listening to gossip and also some backstory about the city.

The city here was built by a big merchant long ago, and ever since, his family has been running it. As he'd guessed, it was a trade-rooted city, focusing mostly on trade and giving little to no attention to the army. Even so, they were well protected, as they had what he heard was a secret weapon. God knows what it would be. If he ever decided to attack and take over, he'd have to do so in secrecy.

Nonetheless, Dylan continued to search the streets of the Bazar and markets, trying to find, at best, what he could call an opportunity. An opportunity to start off, and oh boy, an opportunity he found in the busy streets of the Bazar.

Near the middle of the city, near the biggest market and bazaar, was the Gemini Café. He took one look at it, and he instantly knew this place was a flop. How so? Every other café in that café's radius was filled to the brim because of their location, but this one? Absolutely empty. Not only that, he also saw customers leaving it just a moment before. So, it was as good of a bet as he could get.

This was kind of exactly what he was looking for. A shop, or in this case, a café, is near the middle of the city where there is a lot of traffic, but the café is a flop, so he can propose an idea to the owner. Dylan grinned as he knew his starting days were going to be at this café, and it was going to be written down in history.
