Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5: MOTHER’S TEARS

Lena stood against the floor-to-ceiling window, tears streaming down her cheeks as she cried silently.

This was her house and yet because of her daughter, whom she could see being wheeled towards a motorcade waiting orderly outside, she could only hide inside the house.

She knew that if she truly wanted, she could just go out and see her daughter in person, but her fear towards her daughter was engraved in her bones.

They had spoiled her too much from when she was a baby. Whatever she wanted, she got no matter what. That was how she was raised and when she got sick, it even got worse.

In other words, unless Zara wanted to change, no one would make her.

If she were to go outside and do the opposite of what her daughter instructed before, she knew that she would be done for.

Just like the team of experts said before. Zara should maintain her happy state. If she were to be aggravated in any manner, then the consequences would be dire. In the fifteen years she had been bedridden, they had all seen how terrible it could be for them when Zara was sad or angry.

The last time, someone angered her, she went unconscious for four months and it was the scariest period everyone at the mansion ever experienced.

At that time, she even thought that she had lost her child, but those machines kept on saying otherwise. What was infuriating about the whole case was that there was nothing that medicine could do to wake her up.

In other words, Zara woke up by herself after four months and since then, whatever she said was immediately implemented. No one wanted to see that happening again.

Her husband's spoiling became even more serious than hers. Although she felt joy in that, knowing that Cade's love for their princess was still the same, she was starting to suffer the consequences now.

Her daughter had not been out of her villa for five years. The last time she left the villa, she returned unconscious, in a comma. Since then, she didn't leave her villa at all.

Besides, due to her sensitivity and allergies, Zara would have to be wrapped like a cocoon to go out. She couldn't even show skin when going out. How miserable was she?

As long as her daughter was alive and well, Lena didn't mind, but now she was watching from a distance, as her daughter was wheeled into that wheelchair and wrapped from head to toe. Even that oxygen tank was accompanying her. How could she risk her life simply because she was being too willful?

Unfortunately, she couldn't even scold her daughter for the scary actions she was taking.

"Dear, you need to stop crying. If she sees you like this, she will be sad!" from nowhere, a familiar voice sounded behind Lena, forcing her to quickly wipe her tears as she turned around to face the person who had just spoken.

"Hubby….. Zara, she ... is this really okay for her to go out?" Lena asked aggrievedly as she looked at her husband. The man who had given her the world and pampered her with so much that she could ever ask for.

Cade smiled reassuringly at his young wife of twenty-four years.

"Trust your daughter. When had she ever done something without thinking?" Cade softly asked as he caressed his wife's back while looking at her affectionately.

"But …. She, Zara, hasn't seen the world from the age of eight. Hubby, tell me, what is she really up to? There are just a few months left. What if something happens to her when all the medical machines are left behind? She isn't even bringing doctors with her. What can a nurse do when she is ill?"

The more she thought about it, the sadder and more irritated Lena became.

When Cade heard his wife's worries, he knew what she was talking about. He was as helpless as any other person he had hired to treat his daughter. His princess had been locked in the villa like a prisoner and she spent her youth hidden by the walls. As a father who was not just rich but capable, how could he not feel helpless at a time like this?

Cade hugged his wife closer to him and looked at his daughter, who was being carried into the modified RV bus that his second daughter's company had tweaked and sighed.

"Wife, just let her be. If I were her, I would rather spend the remaining days of my life doing something that I have always loved. We all know how much she loves traveling and seeing places. Otherwise, she wouldn't let her brother visit all the crazy places she had sent him to."

When Lena heard that, she could only sob as she was reminded of the cruel fate that hung over their heads.

Cade, seeing her like that, caressed her back, hoping that she would let the child go. Besides, he had gotten assurance from Emma earlier that they would be able to see her every move. In other words, if something happens, they would be able to see it.

That was better than not knowing what she was up to at all.

"Hubby, you … do you think that they all made a mistake? I don't want my baby to leave me!" Lena sniffed as she buried her face in her husband's firm chest.

"I don't know anymore, dear. What we can all do now is hope and pray for a miracle!" he sighed deeply as several ominous memories flooded his mind.

"Let's hope so. I just want to see her again. I just want to be with my baby. I miss her. I miss her so much; I feel like I am dying!"

"I know, dear. I know. And we all miss her."

The two love birds stood at the window with different thoughts running through their minds as they watched Zara's entourage gathering together like a flock of sheep.

They didn't know what their daughter was up to, where she was going and why she had suddenly chosen to leave the house and go travel, especially in her state.

With her birthday coming in June, a few months away from now, everyone was walking on eggshells. No one knew what was coming. Was she going to survive the disaster and survive to live another day or was it going to be the end?

It was unknown and yet in such a situation, they could only watch helplessly as the person facing such a disaster was slowly succumbing to her willfulness and going to travel even when doom was about to descend on her.

Just how exactly where they going to survive these few days, weeks, or months when she was away?
