"Diane!" Lucas calls urgently as he comes back to my side. "You're bleeding!"
I shake my head. "Nevermind me- look out!" I push him back behind me as Beatrix comes leaping forward, swinging her blade like a crazed wild beast, driven mad with bloodlust. I brace myself, ready to block her strike - only for her to evade, dive sideways, and slip past me - towards Lucas.
"Dammit-!" I thought her murderous rage toward me would keep her focused on me...but no. I lunge forward, once again blocking his body with mine, her blade piercing my simple leather armor like it's not even there. And, probably, at least some of my organs.
"Stay far behind me!" I tell him desperately. She probably isn't trying to kill him, but - I'm not about to let him be mained, either.
And she knows it.
I can see she knows I'll keep doing it.
