Chapter 56 - Flight

The evening is fruitless. 

Rather, the fruit this evening bore was small. Even tipsy, none of the nobles in attendance had anything interesting to say that might connect to Lucas or the Tear. My...pointed interrogation did at least take Edward off the list, but if anything that put us further away from answers.

Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised a harebrained scheme like this was fruitless.

Regardless, I'm all too happy to return to my room in the inn and shed this ghost of my last life.

I'm much more comfortable in my leathers. Not only can I move around and swim in these, but I can sleep in these.

Just as I'm about to set down to do the latter, however, my thoughts are shattered with a sudden frantic pounding. Not on my door, but Lucas'

Craig's voice filters through the door even before I can get to mine.

"LUCAS! LUCAS! OPEN THE DOOR! HURRY!!!"
