Chapter 283 - Delay

Finally.

The rain has stopped, and the skies have cleared up.

The world outside the manor is a giant muddy mess.

We are not traveling by wagon in that.

It will be a day, perhaps two - depending on if it tries drizzling again - before we can leave.

May marches through the room in an exaggerated manner, and holds one of the cookies in both of her hands.

"Hmm..." She narrows her eyes at it as she contemplates it carefully, holding the sweet delicacy in front of her.

"...Do you think I should eat this myself...or give it to someone?"

She poses the question to Roland and Lucas, who sit in the living room and wait out the rain, and both of the men chuckle in amusement as she carries on.

The small child's childish curiosity is utterly charming.

Roland smiles and rests his chin in his hand, giving her an indulgent look. "That's a toughie, eh?" He chuckles under his breath, tilting his head.
