There are sounds of the workers outside and birds chirping in the trees as I peruse the pages.
Eventually I hear a tap, tapping noise outside my window and pause my reading to look out at what could have made it.
It takes me a second to spot what made the sound: a bluebird perched on the edge of the stone sill, pecking at the pane.
The sound must have been the result of it trying to get in.
I find it endearing how much it seems determined to get inside for some reason or another. Why does a bird like this want into the manor?
