The morning is pleasantly calm as May plays in the dirt while we put a fence together, repairing some of the worst storm damage to the outer edges of the manor lands.
May's been very excited about 'helping' us work, and every time one of us calls over to ask for assistance, she dutifully brings the tools that have been requested.
Sometimes she also adds unhelpful commentary like "Work faster, Lucas!" or "Go! Go! Go!", but no one has the heart to try and scold her for that. She seems very eager, after all.
It's entertaining, if nothing else, to have this small child cheerlead for us as we install the fence, and most of the time if we're not asking something of her she's simply finding things to entertain herself with, playing with the dirt, the grass, flowers, and bits of broken trees.
Valentine grumbles, then growls, then groans in frustration as he plants the wooden post he's holding.
