"I...am sleepy, Auntie Diane...sleepy...but I'm still a princess, you can't just put me to bed!" May insists as she rubs her eyes sleepily.
Lucas gives a short, quiet laugh and reaches out to ruffle May's hair gently.
"Yeah, but even a princess has to rest and recharge. When she's recharged, she'll have a lot more energy to go on adventures. Isn't that right?"
May opens her mouth as if to argue, but stops a moment later, apparently thinking over Lucas' words.
A moment passes, then another.
She wiggles in place.
Then she nods. "Uh-huh!...Mkay! Sleeping is good...I gotta recharge if I want to beat up the monsters..."
She yawns sleepily again.
It's a testament to her tiredness that such a line works so easily on her.
"Right. So, let's get you back to bed so you can recharge, alright?" I murmur softly to the sleepy girl in my arms.
May hums drowsily, and I swear she's only barely holding back another yawn.
